Early review of the blockbuster game with stunning graphics that just launched on Steam.

Liquid Swords' debut game, Samson: A Tyndalson Story, is attracting significant attention on Steam right from its release.

Boasting impressive visuals that blend elements of Grand Theft Auto IV and Max Payne, the game is quickly becoming a notable indie blockbuster in 2026. Priced at around 300,000 VND, it's a relatively affordable option compared to the average. However, community reaction is clearly divided into two extremes.

Samson's most noticeable strength lies in its visuals. The game depicts Tyndalson City with a dark, noir-inspired aesthetic, featuring impressive lighting, rain, and environmental effects.

Many scenes, especially the car chases, have a distinctly cinematic feel, reminiscent of classic games in the same genre. This is what helped Samson make a strong first impression, leading many gamers to expect a concise yet high-quality action-adventure experience.

However, after a few hours of gameplay, the game's weaknesses gradually became apparent. Samson operates on a familiar mission loop: racing, chasing, and hand-to-hand combat. The problem lies in the fact that these missions lack variation, repeating themselves almost identically throughout the gameplay.

Although the driving mechanics are considered stable and the steering feel is reasonably weighted, the lack of variety quickly makes the experience monotonous. Meanwhile, the hand-to-hand combat system is rather shallow, lacking feedback and failing to provide a satisfying experience.

The game's map is also quite small, lacking side activities, secrets, or exploration elements, making the game world beautiful but empty.

In terms of content, Samson tells the story of a man's journey to rescue his kidnapped sister, but the execution lacks depth. The game has almost no memorable cutscenes, relying mainly on simple dialogue.

The characters are bland, the dialogue lacks impact, and the plot is disjointed, making it difficult for players to feel the necessary drama of a crime story. In a game where the gameplay isn't particularly outstanding, this is clearly a major drawback.

In addition, Samson also encountered numerous technical issues such as minor bugs, mission glitches, and game crashes. Some design decisions were also considered confusing, making the experience more frustrating than necessary.

Overall, Samson: A Tyndalson Story has an eye-catching cover but its internal components don't quite live up to expectations. At around 300,000 VND, it might be a worthwhile option for those curious about an indie game with a cinematic feel. However, for most gamers, it remains a controversial experience, not quite living up to initial expectations.
