Nintendo Switch Welcomes New Turn-Based Game Inspired by Pokemon
Fear Tall Grass is a new project for Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, featuring turn-based combat and some similarities to the Pokemon series.
Fear Tall Grass draws inspiration from Pokemon.
Recently, developer Forgotten Bastions and publisher Entalto Publishing released a trailer for Fear Tall Grass, a turn-based RPG project with many similarities to the series . While this appears to be Forgotten Bastions' first major game, Entalto has released several different games since 2022. One notable title is Vampire: The Masquerade - Heartless Lullaby, a free-to-play CRPG set in the World of Darkness universe .
Most recently, the company released a game last August. In Fear Tall Grass, players take on the role of a child named Gray who is inadvertently drawn into the center of a Holy War. Players are forced to venture into the tall grasses that now cover much of the world, facing ferocious monsters lurking within, and the only way to defeat them is to capture some of them as allies.
The core gameplay is quite varied. In a mission, the player has a square map, similar to a regular board game. Players use dice to move their character across the squares, collecting resources or encountering monsters. Each confrontation takes place on a 2D arena, with enemies on one side and the player on the other – in this case, the Vilekins. Players must command the Vilekins to attack enemies, and then try to capture them when they are weakened.
According to Fear Tall Grass 's Steam page , the game will launch with 90 Vilekins, divided into 15 different types, representing 6 distinct elements. These elements are the deciding factor in battles, and the Vilekins possess various combat skills for players to utilize. Between missions, players will return to The Sanctuary of Light, where they can build new structures, unlock new mechanics, and invest in permanent upgrades.
There is currently no official release date, but the game is expected to launch sometime in Q4 of this year – that is, from October to December. Furthermore, it is unknown whether the game will be released simultaneously on all platforms or will be exclusive to a specific platform first.
