IT'S STILL A 'SAFETY UPGRADE', BUT IT'S FUN ENOUGH!

This edition of WWE 2K26 continues to maintain its 'quality' by building upon the foundations of previous versions, refining, adding, and enriching itself.

With over 400 American wrestlers, from legends to rising stars and even 'versions' of some famous wrestlers, WWE 2K26 is sure to excite fans of the game and the WWE TV show , making them eager to grind to unlock them all .

Besides the familiar main game modes from MyFACTION, PLAY, Universe, Showcase, MyRise, and MyGM, this version features the 'The Island' mode for the first time on PC – previously, this mode was only available on consoles.

The Island is a fictional island where players can choose to join one of three 'guilds': Order of Anarchy, Order of Shadows, and Order of Tradition. While the choice of guild doesn't directly affect the game's storyline, it does offer different perspectives from the NPCs of each guild throughout the journey.

And the upgrade to The Island in WWE 2K26 compared to the previous version is that the settings also change depending on the region of the three aforementioned associations. In addition, this place is also a place to interact and compete with many other online gamers.

You still create your own character, choose character 'classes', and upgrade skills. Freely explore areas and complete quests of all sizes. The Island mode also features a 'tower' competitive mode (similar to the 'Tower' mode in Mortal Kombat ).

WWE 2K26 continues its 'form' by building upon the foundations of previous versions, refining, adding, and enriching itself further.

Each time you win or lose a battle, you'll receive VC points – the in-game currency – which you can use to make purchases and gradually level up. If you haven't experienced this feature before on PC (though it's nothing new on consoles), it will be quite interesting to explore!

The remaining familiar game modes in WWE 2K26 have been enhanced with added depth through several features to increase the player experience; especially the Universe mode, which was heavily criticized by fans in previous versions for lacking the 'draft' feature to create custom rosters, now includes it, as well as the addition of a 'watch match' feature and more 'rivalries' (opponents) segments to make everything feel more like a television show than before.

The Showcase mode focuses on the career of famous wrestler CM Punk, and this section also includes some noteworthy features such as 'Fantasy Warfare' matches between CM Punk and legends like Stone Cold or Eddie Guerrero, etc., or 'What if' Matches – essentially, players can explore hypothetical events; for example, what would happen if CM Punk had never left WWE in 2014?

Overall, this game mode has maintained its quality over the years, offering numerous challenges and giving fans a chance to relive the glorious achievements of CM Punk.

The combat system isn't drastically different from the previous version; however, the developers have made certain refinements to the reverse striking system, and now the tables can be stacked to create impressive critical hits, etc. Additionally, the author found the artificial intelligence (AI) of the wrestlers in this version to be smarter, incorporating unpredictable moves that contribute to a more intense and challenging match pace!

WWE 2K26 's graphics platform shows improvements primarily in the physics of environmental interaction, where the awkward, artificial-looking objects that broke or shattered in previous versions have largely disappeared.

Our wrestlers also have an added 'ragdoll' effect, so when things like a whole group falling from a height, or both of them 'flying' off the ring, there won't be any strange physics glitches like before; but on the other hand, there are also some hilarious situations – something commonly seen in many games that use this ragdoll effect.

In addition, the company has also made efforts to change the appearance and costumes of the old American wrestlers to match current trends. The models have improved hairstyles compared to before, and there are also some minor changes in shadowing and lighting effects, making the overall look of WWE 2K26 more polished and still visually appealing!

Although the game doesn't show as 'playable on Steam Deck,' it actually runs smoothly and stably with few bugs!

STILL LOOKS LIKE AN 'EXTENDED VERSION', WITH MANY SHORTCOMINGS!

Not too surprising, right? All the upgrades in WWE 2K26 are too minor and not very impressive to make a noticeable difference to players. The feeling that this is just an expensive 'expansion pack' is unavoidable!

For example, the upgrades to the Universe category (mentioned above) could have actually been added in the previous version as regular upgrades, but the company kept them hidden until now and called them "new expensive changes" for WWE 2K26 .

And the company's claim that the 'watch' feature would feel like watching a real-life show is completely false, because before the match even starts, WWE 2K26 still asks players which character they want to control! Are there any American wrestling shows in real life that allow you to choose like that?

Furthermore, Universe, and even the Creation mode, still suffers from display errors in the images of wrestlers with customized costumes – a problem that has been complained about in many previous versions. Therefore, the author has often had to guess which 'box' actually contains the costume they created to choose for their favorite wrestler, because the game interface 'forgot' to display it.

Not to mention, new match types like 'I Quit' and 'Inferno' are touted as 'new' but are actually rehashes from older versions. And funniest is the 'Dumbster' match, just a rehash of last year's 'Casket,' where players try to shove their opponent into a 'box,' but instead of a box, it's now a. trash can in WWE 2K26 .

While the '3 Stages of Hell' mode might be considered novel, it generally allows players to choose any three types of matches and play continuously, without any unique rules or interesting features to make it more exciting.

The Island mode is fun and interesting, but calling it a new mode is a rip-off, because the PC version of WWE 2K25 removed it without explanation!

As is traditional with games from 2K, players who want more powerful items or to easily upgrade their wrestlers' stats either have to grind a lot or. spend money! And this spending of real money is even more prevalent from the start of the game, through the Ringside Pass, and even the obvious "MyFaction" feature.

Not to mention, even if you buy the most expensive version of WWE 2K26 , hoping that all the wrestlers will be unlocked upon launch, you still have to grind like crazy to unlock them. And that's not all, if you want to skip tiers in the Ringside Pass, you have to pay an extra $70! Despite the constant complaints year after year, the company's resilience is truly remarkable!

And since last year, the company has also stopped allowing cross-platform sharing between PC and Console in the Community Creations category, making it much more difficult for fans of the series to download customized wrestlers or arenas, etc.

All the upgrades in WWE 2K26 are too minor and unimpressive to make a noticeable difference to the player.
