Minecraft announces the official name for update 1.21.
Minecraft's 1.21 update is coming out this June, and although Mojang had previously added much of its content, it's only now being named.
Mojang has finally revealed the official name for Minecraft's 1.21 update: Tricky Trials. Expected to launch in June 2024, Tricky Trials will bring a host of new features to Minecraft, including a new weapon, challenges, crafting items, and more.
Players and modders are loving the latest Minecraft update, version 1.205, which was released just a few days ago. Titled Armored Paws, this update introduces a new creature called the armadillo, eight new wolf skins, and the ability to craft wolf armor from armadillo shells. And that's not all; Mojang is continuing to provide information about the next update.
The big name reveal for the next update came as part of Minecraft's monthly official video released on April 26th, where it was introduced by original Minecraft game director Agnes Larrson, although Mojang's lead content director and host, Vu Bui, made some almost humorous hints leading up to the official announcement. According to Larrson, the 'Trials' part of the name simply refers to the adventures players will experience through the various challenge types that will appear in the game in June, such as Minecraft's new Ominous Trials. Meanwhile, the 'Tricky' part of the name is split into two parts, referring to the fun aspects of new game features and new objects that will allow players to experiment in different ways. 'Tricky' really feels like the quirky personality of Minecraft, and that's something we really like, of course,' she explained.
Everything will appear in Minecraft Tricks and Trials.
- Mace Weapon
- Paintings
- Music Discs
- The Crafter
- The Breeze
- The Bogged
- Trial Chambers
- Trial Slawner
- Ominous Trials
- The Vault
- Wind Charge
- Trims
- Phantom Patterns
- Decorative Copper
- Brother Bulb
- Tuff Blocks
- Pottery Sherds
While Mojang isn't usually lazy when it comes to releasing new content, the Tricks and Trials update will bring a host of new content to the game. Minecraft's Ominous Trials have been available for testing in various ways (Bedrock Beta, Preview, and Java Snapshot) but will be included in the official game with Tricks and Trials. These challenging battles take place in Trial Rooms and, while players will face some very powerful monsters there, they will also be rewarded with potions upon completing the trials.
Another highly anticipated feature is the Overpowered Striking Stick, which will be appearing in Minecraft. Minecraft Monthly shared more information about this item, stating that its attack power will be proportional to the height from which the player jumps onto their opponent when using it. However, there is a drawback: if the player misses their target, they will take the normal damage that a fall from that height would typically inflict.
