Steam is offering an amazing deal: A game with 70,000 players is now 35% off – this is your chance to buy!

Amidst the vibrant gaming market at the beginning of 2026, filled with numerous new blockbusters, an indie title unexpectedly captured the community's attention.

ULTRAKILL - a super-violent FPS game in the boomer shooter style - is taking Steam by storm after releasing its major update, Fraud, and simultaneously offering a 35% discount, creating a strong boost in both player numbers and sales.

According to data from SteamDB, on February 25th alone, ULTRAKILL reached over 71,000 concurrent players, shattering the previous record of approximately 28,000 players that the game set in 2023.

This represents a growth rate of nearly 157%, an extremely impressive figure for an indie game that was released a long time ago as an Early Access title. Thanks to this popularity, the game quickly climbed into the top 40 best-selling products on Steam at the moment.

The centerpiece of the hype is the Layer 8: Fraud update – content the community has been waiting for for the past two years. The developers have taken players to a new level of hell, where nothing can be trusted. Fraud continues to explore the theme of hell but emphasizes visual illusions and illogical spatial design.

The rotating rooms, reminiscent of Inception, the wall and ceiling-based movement mechanics, and the intricate illusion chamber-like structures make the experience more intense and challenging than ever. While the core gameplay—fast-paced, requiring skillful aiming and movement—remains largely unchanged, the new level design dramatically increases the difficulty, forcing players to constantly adapt.

Notably, just hours after Fraud launched, the community discovered a secret room hidden deep within the new Layer, causing forums and social media to be flooded with discussions and spoilers. This further fueled curiosity and attracted thousands of new players.

Alongside its compelling content, the 35% discount is considered a crucial blow that helps ULTRAKILL reach a large number of hesitant gamers. With a significantly lower price than usual, many consider this the golden opportunity to own one of the highest-rated FPS games on the Valve platform.

In less than 24 hours after the update launched, ULTRAKILL received over 1,800 new reviews, averaging 96% positive ratings. Both recent and overall reviews maintain an "Overwhelmingly Positive" status – an achievement not many indie games can attain after years of release. The promotion will last until March 3rd.
