Steam has released another new free-to-play RPG, promising to keep players occupied for hours.

Steam continues to assert its position as a haven for free games by bringing the community a completely free fantasy RPG called Nocturnal Quest: An Idle RPG Adventure.

More than just a free-to-play product, this game also stands out thanks to its captivating semi-idle gameplay, capable of keeping players hooked for hours on end, even without directly using a mouse.

In the context of an increasingly expensive gaming market, Steam's continuous addition of free games has become a major highlight, especially for PC gamers.

In just a short period recently, this platform has released a series of free games across various genres. And Nocturnal Quest is the latest name to join that wave.

Essentially, Nocturnal Quest: An Idle RPG Adventure allows players to build a team of characters with a relatively deep development system. The game offers six character classes, 12 specialization paths, and hundreds of different skills and effects, opening up countless ways to build strategies. A unique feature is that your team can automatically fight and gather resources even when you're not directly controlling them.

This semi-idle element is what makes it uniquely appealing. Players can still influence tactics, arrange their team, and choose skills, but without the constant grinding required in traditional RPGs. When you have free time, you can optimize your team; when you're busy, the game continues to run and yield rewards. This is the perfect formula for those who want to experience a game without time constraints.

But that's not all; Nocturnal Quest boasts a nearly limitless level system, where players continuously progress to face increasingly difficult challenges. The combat-upgrade-progress loop is well-structured, creating a clear sense of progression and making it highly addictive. Combined with a hybrid turn-based and real-time combat system, the game offers a certain depth rather than simply being a basic idle game.

Notably, this game was previously available as an Early Access title in early 2026 before its official release on March 31st. The transition from a beta version to a full release shows that the developers had time to refine and perfect the experience.

However, Nocturnal Quest is not without its controversies. Some of the game's resources, including visuals and sound, are AI-generated, which may leave some players feeling uncomfortable. Nevertheless, at a price of 0 dollars, it remains a worthwhile option, especially for those who enjoy idle RPG gameplay.
