Google Pixel users are reporting widespread battery drain issues.

Following the April 2026 update, many Google Pixel phone users have reported unusual battery drain. According to reports, the device loses battery quickly even when not in use, i.e., in idle state.

The numerous responses appearing on Google's Issue Tracker system and various forums like Reddit suggest that this is not an isolated bug but has a wide-ranging impact.

The bug has appeared across multiple generations of Pixel phones.

Notably, this issue isn't limited to a specific model. Users of devices ranging from the Pixel 6 to newer models like the Pixel 10 have reported similar problems.

Some users have reported that battery life has been reduced by almost half compared to before the update. This directly impacts daily usage, especially for those who rely on their devices for work.

The CPU is suspected of not entering power saving mode.

The exact cause remains unconfirmed, but many analyses suggest that the CPU may not be entering deep sleep mode when the screen is off. This causes the system to continue running in the background, consuming energy even when there are no apparent tasks.

Notably, some users reported that the error persisted even with airplane mode enabled, reinforcing the hypothesis that the problem stems from system software rather than network connectivity.

Google has confirmed the issue and is developing a patch.

Google has officially acknowledged the issue and stated that it is investigating and developing a fix. While no specific release date has been given, the patch will likely be included in the May update.

This isn't the first time the Pixel line has experienced battery-related issues after an update. Similar problems previously occurred in 2025. While waiting for an official patch, users should monitor system updates and avoid installing major updates immediately upon release if there isn't stable feedback from the community.
