Legion Go Fold Concept - a unique handheld gaming device with a foldable screen.

The Legion Go Fold Concept hopes to compete with the Steam Deck and 7-inch screens with a massive 11.6-inch foldable handheld device.

Lenovo seems to be relentlessly producing large-sized handheld gaming devices. After taking the market by storm with the Legion Go, a device with an 8.8-inch screen and detachable controller, the company has taken it a step further, this time hoping to compete with the Steam Deck and 7-inch screens with a massive 11.6-inch foldable handheld device, now called the Legion Go Fold Concept.

Embracing the growing trend of foldable screens on phones, this new Lenovo device can be used with a 7.7-inch screen like the Steam Deck or expanded to a full 11.6-inch size. With a detachable handle, you can change the setup to suit your needs at any time.

For a concept product, the Legion Go Fold Concept's specifications are surprisingly comprehensive. Lenovo has confirmed the device will use an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor, integrate a powerful Intel Arc 140V GPU, and have 32GB of RAM.

Although a fairly good performing CPU, the Core Ultra 7 258V is still far from the most powerful mobile chips currently available, making it an odd choice for such a large device. However, while a chip like the AMD Strix Halo used in the Asus ROG Flow Z13 seems like a more sensible option, that AMD chip is not only very expensive, but the Go Fold's thin, foldable design may also limit its cooling capabilities.

Similarly, it's surprising and disappointing to see only a 48Wh battery integrated. This is even lower than the Steam Deck OLED and far less than the Xbox Ally X – although admittedly the Xbox Ally X has a significantly larger battery capacity.

However, the specifications we don't yet have are for the screen. Whether it's an LCD or OLED display, what the resolution will be, and what refresh rate it can operate at are all unknown. However, most foldable phone screens are OLED, so it's predicted that this device's screen will be similar. LCD screens are inherently less durable than OLEDs.
