Sony Inzone M10S II - A super-fast 720Hz OLED gaming monitor with one strange drawback.
Let's explore the Sony Inzone M10S II, the company's latest gaming monitor focused on delivering an ultra-fast gaming experience.
Let's explore the Sony Inzone M10S II, the company's latest gaming monitor focused on delivering an ultra-fast gaming experience thanks to its OLED panel and extremely high refresh rate. Developed in collaboration with the British eSports team Fnatic, this new monitor operates at 540Hz by default but can also be boosted to 720Hz, albeit only by reducing the resolution.
We've seen quite a few dual-mode monitors like this recently; however, most of these offer the option to switch between 4K and 1080p. With this new Sony model, you can run at 2,560 x 1,440 resolution at 540Hz or just 1,280 x 720 at 720Hz.
To many who aren't fully familiar with the world of esports, playing games at such low resolutions might seem ridiculous these days. However, in reality, it's quite common for professional gamers to play at resolutions close to this level. Especially for CS2 and Valorant players, 1280 x 960 is the most popular resolution choice on ProSettings, and even 1024 x 768 is quite favored.
Furthermore, this is essentially a fairly typical 27-inch QHD OLED display, with an ultra-fast 0.02ms response time and, of course, near-infinite contrast thanks to its ability to display truly deep blacks. However, there are a few additional small features that make this new Sony display stand out.
First of all, when it comes to HDR, this display can achieve an extremely high maximum brightness of up to 1,500 cd/m2, which is much higher than the average of only half for many OLED displays and half that for most standard LCD displays.
Sony has also partnered with Fnatic to optimize the screen design for professional gaming. This means you get an anti-reflective coating instead of a glossy screen, plus the screen can tilt higher than usual, allowing you to get closer to the screen while maintaining an optimal viewing angle.
For similar reasons, the stand is designed to be extremely compact, almost to the point of appearing unstable. However, this allows for optimal flexibility in how you position your mouse, keyboard, and mousepad around the screen.
The company has also added a 24.5-inch mode that allows the screen to be the same size as professional gaming monitors, along with an FPS Pro picture quality mode to recreate the look and feel of popular professional LCD gaming monitors. However, all these top-tier gaming optimizations come at a hefty price of $1,099.99 for this monitor.
