Crimson Desert fans are calling on developers to change a feature.

Although Crimson Desert has been highly praised in many aspects, a segment of gamers has consistently complained about the mount feature not working as they had expected from the trailer.

Crimson Desert players speak out about the mount issue.

After its initial release,  Crimson Desert  has gradually gained favor with the gaming community, especially thanks to a recent major update. The update introduced quality improvements, gameplay tweaks for smoother gameplay, and even adjustments to certain skills. Seeing that  Pearl Abyss  was genuinely responsive to player feedback, many began suggesting further improvements, most notably to the mount mechanics.

On Reddit, discussions about the game revealed that some players shared that certain mounts cannot be permanently tamed, almost exclusively horses and dragons. Furthermore, riding dragons often has a long cooldown, and each flight only lasts about 15 minutes. On many forums, the player community questioned why creatures advertised as dinosaurs and bears cannot be permanently tamed like horses. Most responses focused on how Pearl Abyss could expand its system, rather than completely overhauling it.

Some suggested improvements include confining mounts to cages, permanently linking mount species to specific quests, or tweaking the taming mechanics between different creatures. Clearly, the game has a solid foundation, but it will still need some adjustments to meet expectations, at least to live up to its marketing as "a game for mount enthusiasts."

Much of the disappointment stems from the fact that trailers and gameplay videos emphasize the ability to tame and ride various creatures, but fail to clarify their limitations. Some players argue about the necessity of cooldowns in an offline single-player game. The game began development as an MMO before transitioning to a single-player experience, so it's possible some MMO design philosophies were carried over to the final product.

To date, Pearl Abyss has shown an ability to listen to community feedback by attempting to release updates to improve the experience. However, the more they try, the more problems seem to arise, regardless of whether the changes are truly necessary. While some players are still complaining about the mount system, the game still has a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam. Nevertheless, since mounts play a crucial role in mobility across the vast open world,   future adjustments to Pearl Abyss will be quite significant.
