Resident Evil Requiem Officially Confirms New DLC in Development
Following the explosive success of Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom has finally confirmed that they are developing new DLC, in addition to a few more additions in the near future.
Capcom confirms story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem
Rumors about a Resident Evil Requiem expansion had been circulating online even before the game's release, and became even more certain after the game achieved record sales. Reliable leaks suggest that Capcom will continue the story based on the setting of Requiem, focusing on Alyssa Ashcroft – Grace Ashcroft's mother.
Although plans may have changed after the game's release, it's almost certain that Requiem will get DLC, as the two previous main games, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, both had similar story expansions.
Revelations from Director Koshi Nakanishi
In a video posted on Resident Evil's official X (Twitter) account, Director Nakanishi expressed his appreciation for the positive fan response. After reviewing recent game-improving updates, he confirmed that Capcom will continue to support the game with new content, including a photo mode and a "surprise" in May – a new mini-game. Finally, he confirmed that an expansion pack for the game's storyline is currently in development.
Nakanishi also humorously shared some theories surrounding the potential marriage partners in Requiem before revealing more about the DLC. "In this story, we'll delve deeper into the world of Requiem," he affirmed. However, it will likely take some time before Capcom can release the DLC, as Nakanishi stated that the company is working hard towards it.
Based on Nakanishi's description, it seems the DLC is still in its early stages of development, and players will have to wait a considerable amount of time for more details. A DLC for Requiem is a natural progression after its phenomenal commercial success. Last week, Capcom revealed that the entire Resident Evil franchise has reached 183 million copies sold over 30 years. Resident Evil Requiem contributed significantly, selling over 5 million copies in just 5 days, becoming the fastest-selling game in the series' history (surpassing Resident Evil 6's record of 4.5 million copies in its first week) .
Despite being released 30 years ago, Resident Evil continues to demonstrate its enduring vitality. Following a series of successful remakes and main storyline games, Capcom seems to have no intention of stopping. Rumors suggest a remake of Resident Evil 1 is in development, and the team's next project might be a remake of Code Veronica – something fans have long awaited.
