Is GTA 6 priced at $70-$80? Take-Two CEO speaks out to quell rumors of a $100 price tag.
On March 19th, with only about 8 months left until GTA 6 's expected release , the global gaming community entered its most heated phase: pricing and pre-orders. Previously, many analysts had predicted that, given its unprecedented development scale, GTA 6 could be sold for over $100 (approximately 2,540,000 VND). This information had previously provoked a strong reaction from the gaming community.
However, in a recent interview with The Game Business, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick directly addressed these speculations. When asked about the possibility of adding in-game ads to increase revenue, he replied: "It's hard to imagine us making players – who have already spent $70 or $80 (approximately 1,780,000 – 2,030,000 VND) to buy the game – endure interspersed ads. That seems unfair."
This statement is seen by observers as a very clear signal that the standard price of GTA 6 will be in the range of $70–$80, consistent with the general price level of AAA games today. Currently, Rockstar has not officially opened pre-orders. However, many market experts have noticed a familiar pattern: major announcements from Take-Two are often linked to financial reporting periods. Accordingly, the company's next financial meeting will take place on May 14th. CEO Strauss Zelnick also previously stated that the marketing campaign would be intensified in the summer, so opening pre-orders in May is considered perfectly logical, fitting the 6-month promotional cycle and helping to improve financial figures.
Speaking about the long wait between GTA 5 and GTA 6, Zelnick was quite optimistic. He argued that this gap actually turned into an advantage: the younger players from the past are now adults and can buy the game without needing family permission. He also emphasized that GTA 6 will be user-friendly for new players, easily accessible even without having played the previous installment. Given its status as one of the world's biggest game franchises, GTA 6 is clearly one of the few titles that players are willing to spend up to $80 on without much hesitation.
