At the GTC 2026 event, NVIDIA revealed a series of images showing how DLSS 5 technology is utilized in Starfield .

NVIDIA recently unveiled DLSS 5 and is expected to officially launch the technology this year. In terms of how it works, DLSS 5 will bring significant graphical improvements to games that support the technology by rendering adjusted images in real time.

After NVIDIA revealed this technology, Todd Howard also stated that Bethesda is eager to leverage DLSS 5 in Starfield and other upcoming projects.

To date, we have new videos showing how this technology is used in Starfield .

On the YouTube channel Plano Plays Games, we can see a 12-minute video showcasing DLSS 5 in Bethesda's aforementioned role-playing game.

Because the video was filmed at GTC 2026, the people in the clip also shared some additional information about this imaging technology – such as how easily game companies will be able to transition from DLSS 4 to this version.

In addition, they also stated that this imaging technology is capable of identifying reflected light and shadow direction from pixels on the screen.

When DLSS 5 was first announced, NVIDIA received a barrage of criticism from the gaming community for looking too much like… an AI 'filter'.

Although the video cannot prove those allegations wrong, it still gives us a fairly concrete glimpse into how this technology might be utilized in the future.
