Pearl Abyss hints at post-launch content development plans for Crimson Desert.
The positive shift in public perception of Crimson Desert, coupled with the achievement of selling 3 million copies in its first week, has laid a solid foundation for developer Pearl Abyss to plan post-launch content, including a multiplayer mode and DLC.
During the Q4 2025 earnings call held on February 12th, Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-young directly discussed the game's post-release support roadmap.
The executive revealed that the company is considering adding new content in the future if there is a real demand from the market and community. With its already massive open-world foundation, fans are eagerly anticipating the new elements the development team can bring to Crimson Desert.
Notably, Crimson Desert was originally conceived as an MMORPG. Therefore, the inclusion of multiplayer content at this point is seen as a crucial step, bringing the project back to its original vision. With its resounding commercial success, the game's continued release of expansions in the near future is almost a sure sign.
However, before realizing those grand plans, Pearl Abyss still has a huge amount of work to do. The studio's top priority right now is to thoroughly fix technical bugs and implement essential balance patches. These efforts are absolutely necessary to ensure the smoothest possible experience for players, preventing minor flaws from overshadowing the game's inherent excellence.
