PUBG: Blidspot is struggling to attract players on Steam.

As a spin-off project developed from the PUBG: Battlegrounds franchise, PUBG: Blindspot seems to be struggling to reach the gaming community for various reasons.

PUBG: Blindspot offers something new, but it's not enough.

PUBG: Blindspot is the latest spin-off game from the PUBG: Battlegrounds franchise , offering a completely free 5v5 experience with a top-down perspective. According to producer Seungmyeong Yang, "Blindspot's setting is based on a dystopian future, set slightly earlier than PUBG Battlegrounds." Because both games are developed by PUBG Studios , Blindspot shares many similar shooting mechanics with Battlegrounds .

Although this was initially praised by critics for offering a rather novel approach, user reviews on Steam are showing the opposite. Launched as Early Access on February 5th, it has received quite a few mixed reviews, mostly negative.

In addition, the number of concurrent players is also quite low, peaking at only around 3,251 people, while the flagship game PUBG Battlegrounds, despite a significant decline in popularity, still has over 200,000 daily players, with its most recent peak reaching 603,123 people.

It's clear that most players are dissatisfied with the control system, comparing the game to and calling it a cheap copy. Many others find the shooting experience from certain perspectives rather awkward.

For example, to hit a crouching enemy, players have to hold down the CTRL key, a mechanism that is unintuitive and requires time to get used to. Critics have noted the game's lack of creativity, with its only interesting feature being 'shared vision,' allowing all players in the same group to see what others see.

There's still time for PUBG: Blindspot to develop

Furthermore, it has been accused of using AI, particularly in character creation, a fact not mentioned on the Steam website. Another issue is the lack of an Oceania server, creating connectivity problems for players in territories like Australia.

On the positive side, the development team seems seriously committed to addressing player issues. While it's unlikely they'll change core mechanics like aiming, some aspects can still be adjusted based on community feedback.

Whether future updates can regain player favor and improve its Steam rating remains to be seen. It's also worth noting that the game is currently in Early Access on Steam . Developers ARC Team and PUBG Studios have clearly stated that this phase is for gathering feedback and further refining both the gameplay and visuals.
