Sci-Fi Gamer Exouds Releases New Gameplay Video

Approximately two years after its initial announcement, and three months after its appearance at The Game Awards 2025, Archetype Entertainment returns with a new look at Exodus – an ambitious science fiction RPG where players will journey through the Omega Centauri star cluster in search of mysterious artifacts that could significantly impact the galaxy's political landscape. The new trailer offers the first seamless glimpse into Exodus's combat and exploration gameplay.

The trailer opens with the main character, Jun, and his two teammates, Tom and Elise, engaging in a gunfight against mysterious robotic soldiers. This gameplay will be familiar to Mass Effect fans, as players can command their AI teammates while directly participating in combat from a third-person perspective with a cover-based firing mechanism. The next part focuses on a key means of transportation – the grappling hook. This is a device that allows players to quickly move to different areas and swing between fixed points using a physics-based system.

The final part of the trailer reveals ancient artifacts – central to the storyline – as the protagonist enters an ancient Celestial temple. According to the official description, the gameplay in the trailer is still under development and only 'represents a small fraction' of what players can expect. Archetype Entertainment plans to release a longer gameplay video this summer. The exact timing is unclear, but it's likely to appear at Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest, scheduled to begin on June 5, 2026, or a similar event.

Exodus release date and universe expansion

Exodus is currently scheduled for release in early 2027, meaning players will have to wait at least another year to experience the full game. However, the game's universe has been quite thoroughly developed. In September 2024, the prequel novel Exodus: The Archimedes Engine, written by Peter F. Hamilton, was released, telling the origin story of the Celestials. The sequel, Exodus: The Helium Sea, is scheduled for release in June.

Additionally, the world of Exodus was also explored in episode 11 of the Secret Level series on Amazon Prime, with a story about a mechanic chasing his daughter across the galaxy, clearly demonstrating the consequences of time dilation in space travel.
