Sony PlayStation officially removes the PSN connection requirement for Helldivers 2 on Steam.

Due to immense pressure from the community, Sony PlayStation finally removed the PSN connection requirement for Helldivers 2 on Steam.

The past period has been incredibly difficult for the gaming community, as Helldivers 2, once a hugely popular game, has now faced intense criticism. This is due to Sony PlayStation suddenly requiring PSN to be linked to Steam accounts, resulting in nearly 200 territories, including Vietnam, losing access to the game because PSN is no longer supported.

Sony PlayStation has now officially announced that they have taken feedback from gamers into account. Accordingly, the Helldivers 2 update requiring Steam to be linked to PSN will no longer be rolled out, allowing PC gamers to enjoy the game without needing to link an account or external launcher.

Helldivers fans — we've heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which will have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.

This announcement has been met with enthusiastic reception from the community and is considered a resounding victory for both gamers and the developer, Arrowhead Game Studios, especially since the studio directly negotiated the issue with Sony and even called on the community to join forces to pressure Sony into changing its mind through negative game reviews and demands for refunds.

However, many are concerned that the consequences of the recent crisis will be very difficult to fully overcome. Currently, the number of players has decreased significantly, the number of negative reviews remains very high, and the game is no longer in the top 10 best-selling games on Steam as it was in previous months.
