AMD launches Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Zen 5 processor line – Tin Gadget

On July 25, 2025, AMD officially announced the start of shipping the Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series for the high-end desktop segment, featuring the new Zen 5 CPU architecture and up to 64 cores and 128 threads. The 32-core version (9970X) has similar speeds, a TDP of 350W, and is priced at $2,499. The 24-core version (9960X) costs $1,499.

AMD claims the Threadripper 9000 series delivers superior performance compared to Intel Xeon W-3500: up to 83% increase in rendering performance on Cinebench 2024 and an 80% improvement in Adobe After Effects performance, especially in AI-intensive workflows and rendering.

Equipped with a sTR5 socket compatible with previous generation motherboards, a TDP maintained at 350W, and full overclocking support on DIY versions, AMD aims to help users both utilize their existing systems and easily upgrade performance when needed.
