AMD officially launches the Radeon AI PRO R9700 professional GPU – Tin Gadget
AMD has announced that its new AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 graphics card will be available at retailers worldwide starting Monday, October 27th, with a suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,299. This workstation GPU delivers scalable, cost-effective performance for demanding AI tasks, helping developers, researchers, and creators train and run large models more efficiently across both Linux and Windows operating systems.
Developed for on-device AI inference and large-scale language modeling (LLM) development environments, the R9700 features 32GB of GDDR6 RAM, 128 AI accumulators, PCIe 5.0 support, and the RDNA 4 architecture.
According to AMD, the Radeon AI PRO R9700 achieves double the performance of the Radeon PRO W7800 in DeepSeek R1 testing and is capable of deploying AI models containing up to 32 billion parameters on a single GPU. At $1,299, it is considered 'significantly cheaper' than competing solutions such as the GeForce RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell (24 GB), which costs around $2,499.
In terms of specifications, the R9700 is based on the Navi 48 core, comprising 4,096 stream processors, 128 ROPs, a dual-slot design with a blower-style cooling system, and a 300W TDP. The 32GB GDDR6 memory runs on a 256-bit bus, supporting ECC, making it suitable for large volumes of AI or professional graphics. AMD aims to leverage the advantages of RDNA 4 and the integrated ROCm software to better serve Linux environments and multi-GPU integrated systems.
The launch of the Radeon AI PRO R9700 marks a significant step forward for AMD in the GPU workstation and on-premises AI processing field – a sector previously dominated by gaming. With its powerful configuration, large memory capacity, and more accessible price point in the professional segment, the R9700 promises to be a viable option for developers, personal studios, and businesses needing high-performance GPUs without relying entirely on the cloud.
