BioShock 4 Could Deliver a Storyline Change, Depending on the Player's Play.
According to a recent leak, BiShock 4 could be the first game in the franchise to give players control over the storyline.
BioShock 4 allows the storyline to change based on player choices.
In BioShock 4, the most surprising aspect is that the player essentially has no choice. While the game does offer some choices, they ultimately have little impact on the storyline. This has led to the ongoing question: Is "choice" merely an illusion? And what will BioShock 4 be like?
Leaker V Scooper may have the answer for fans, having previously revealed some "exclusive" information, including a statement that player choices will directly impact the storyline. In a comment, V Scooper also indicated that the game will follow a "semi-open" world (players are free to explore within certain boundaries), which somewhat aligns with his earlier statement that the game will take place in a "densely populated and tightly interconnected city."
The competition between BioShock 4 and Judas
Players can also interact with the environment, as V Scooper confirmed that BioShock 4 will feature a very realistic physics system, allowing players to change their surroundings. In previous games, the RPG elements mainly revolved around upgrading weapons, skills, and stats, so expanding this system could make the gameplay more diverse.
Interestingly, the idea of changing the storyline based on player choices is also being pursued by [Game Name], a game from Ken Levine and considered a future rival to BioShock 4 .
With Judas, players will be able to form cooperative relationships with about two of the three key NPCs, leaving the third one feeling "left out," leading to a tendency towards hostility towards the player. It's unclear whether this mechanic will play a major role in the storyline or primarily serve gameplay, but it further highlights the comparison between BioShock 4 and the "spiritual successor" of the franchise.
Overall, BioShock 4 seems to be trying to balance retaining the core spirit of the series while taking the brand to new heights, which could be seen as a positive sign. However, all of this remains speculation until Cloud Chamber officially confirms it. Nevertheless, V Scooper accurately predicted the setting in the past, so it's possible that this latest leak has some basis.
