Esports World Cup announces Road to EWC, establishing a global qualifier season.
Road to EWC connects multiple competitive ecosystems into a unified esports season, creating a clear roadmap for the 2026 Esports World Cup.
The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) today officially announced the 'Road to EWC' global qualifying program for the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC).
With over 230 tournaments taking place across all major esports regions and at various competition levels, Road to EWC 2026 connects publisher-led tournaments, top-tier international events, and official qualifiers into a seamless roadmap leading up to the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 6th to August 23rd, 2026.
By unifying the qualifiers for multiple disciplines and publisher ecosystems into a single global tournament calendar, Road to EWC creates clear opportunities for players and clubs at all levels, from amateur to professional, to compete on the world's biggest esports stage. At the same time, the program provides fans with a transparent, year-round tournament calendar designed to ensure fair competition, foster long-term investment, and support the sustainable development of the global esports industry.

'Road to EWC connects the journeys that make up top-tier esports,' shared Faisal Bin Homran, Product Director of EWCF . 'Building a clear qualifying season allows the entire ecosystem to proactively plan: players focus on competition, clubs allocate resources earlier, publishers synchronize the ecosystem, and fans know when and where the crucial moments will occur. By building together, we can develop esports in a sustainable, inclusive, and global direction.'
Road to EWC is directly integrated into the global esports ecosystem, using official tournaments and top events as a qualifying route for EWC 2026. Notable systems and tournaments include Apex Legends Global Series, Capcom Cup, the Chess.com Global Championship, Combo Breaker, CROSSFIRE Pro League, EA Sports FC Pro, EVO, Free Fire World Series, Fortnite Reload Elite Series, King Pro League (Honor of Kings), Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang MWI 2026, Overwatch Champions Series, PUBG Global Series, PUBG MOBILE Global Open, Rocket League Championship Series, the SNK World Championship (Fatal Fury), TEKKEN World Tour Finals, and the official esports systems of Call of Duty, League of Legends, Fortnite, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Trackmania, and VALORANT.
In addition, open online qualifiers and community tournaments will be held for Call of Duty: Warzone, Dota 2, Teamfight Tactics, and Chess, providing an opportunity for amateur players who wish to compete against top names from professional competitive systems.
All qualifying tournaments will be consolidated into a single Esports World Cup schedule, allowing fans to follow the journey from regional tournaments to the grand finals in Riyadh. Throughout the season, Road to EWC's multi-channel media campaign will provide content such as match highlights, player interviews, in-depth articles, livestreams and video-on-demand (VOD), along with on-site coverage from content creators attending key events.

In 2025, over 2,500 players qualified for the EWC through Road to EWC, representing over 100 countries and more than 200 clubs. 15-year-old Free Fire player Rasyah 'Rasyah' Rasyid became the youngest champion in EWC history. Names like Manuel 'ManuBachoore' Bachoore (EA FC) and Zeng 'Xiao Hai' Zhuojun (Street Fighter) continued to dominate the tournament. Team Falcons won their second Club Championship, with their Overwatch 2 roster – having qualified through the wildcards – triumphing at the OWCS Midseason Championship. New stories will continue to be written in the 2026 season.
The dedicated Road to EWC information page on esportsworldcup.com will provide full updates on the qualifying tournaments, including times, locations, competition formats, and how to follow them, helping fans stay connected with the teams and players throughout the season.
The first round of tickets for the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC) is now on sale through international ticketing partners including Tixr (USA and Europe), Webook (Middle East and Saudi Arabia), Platinumlist (Middle East and India), and Damai (China), along with special travel packages from Saudia Holidays for early ticket buyers.
