HumanitZ 1.0 has been released - a combination of DayZ and Project Zomboid.

HumanitZ 1.0 has been released, featuring a host of upgrades including a completely revamped map, improved zombie infection capabilities, and an enhanced endgame area.

In a vast open world teeming with the undead, HumanitZ 1.0 has officially launched after more than two years in early access. This standalone zombie game sits a balance between the realistic, ground-view style of DayZ and the top-down, perspective-based style of Project Zomboid, and the full version comes with a plethora of additions and upgrades worth experiencing, whether you played in early access or are a first-time player.

HumanitZ comes from developer Yodubzz Studios and puts you in the middle of a brutal war. Civilization is nearly wiped out, humanity huddles in isolated groups while hordes of zombies roam the world.

Your character starts with a basic set of professions and will gradually develop through HumanitZ's vast skill tree as you face the challenges of survival amidst the apocalypse. Gather enough materials, and crafting basic gear and consumables will eventually evolve into building a complete safe haven, allowing you to occupy a position and fortify it with items like barricades and electric fences for a moment of respite. With PvE and PvP modes, and the option of permanent death, you can make things as brutal as you wish.

The full version of HumanitZ is a massive upgrade over its predecessor, to the point where you'll need to start from scratch. However, you'll want to because of what it offers, starting with significantly improved character models, including more body styles and customization options. The skill system has been reworked, making early levels more accessible but increasing difficulty in the later stages, and the ability to multi-class once at level 30 and a second time at level 60.

The map has also been completely redesigned, with Yodubzz stating they received feedback that the map design in early access was 'boring and repetitive'. So instead of expanding the area, they focused on breathing life into individual parts of the world. Locations have been expanded, moved, or destroyed, and there are many additional unique points of interest to explore. However, there's a new area: players can now access 'Islands', which function as a true endgame area that requires careful gear and preparation.

The infection system has been redesigned; instead of rolling dice upon being bitten as before, each attack gradually increases the infection level. Normal attacks may only increase it slightly, but a bite will increase it by 50% – and once it reaches the maximum, you will be knocked out. To help counter this, many clothing and armor options offer protection against infection damage, and players can craft professional treatments to combat the virus, along with a 'homemade' mitigating potion for those lacking the proper brewing skills.

Weapons are rendered more realistically and vividly, with features such as recoil, vibration, bullet dispersion, and jamming. Crouching helps reduce vibration, and you can learn skills to mitigate other issues. The loot system now makes it easier to pick up individual items that are close together without having to grab them all. New difficulty options allow you to choose between several presets when starting a new adventure, or toggle individual options to customize elements like item rarity and weather frequency to your liking.
