First Stand 2026: GEN.G Destroys JD Gaming, LYON Struggling to Overcome LOUD

On the second day of First Stand 2026, while GEN.G continued their dominant performance against JD Gaming of the LPL, LYON had a rather difficult best-of-five series against the home team LOUD of the CBLOL region.

GEN.G delivered an explosive performance, dominating JD Gaming.

The First Stand 2026 tournament on the evening of the 2nd witnessed a dominant performance by GEN.G against the LPL's second seed, JD Gaming (JDG) . From the opening game, GEN.G quickly demonstrated their dominance in many positions, especially in the mid lane where Chovy held his position. HongQ, despite having some experience from First Stand 2025, MSI, and Worlds, was still no match for a player who was simply too superior.

Entering the second game, things remained largely unchanged as GEN.G continued to maintain their dominance, ending the game in just about 24 minutes. The third game was perhaps the most noteworthy effort from JD Gaming , especially from marksman GALA and jungler JunJia . For the first 15 minutes of the game, JDG had their first significant advantage in the laning phase over GEN.G, with GALA becoming the primary source of damage.

But after a few crucial skirmishes, Ruler , with his Jhin pick   , showed why he's nicknamed "The Ruler," with  incredibly precise  uses of Deadly Flavour and Curtain Call  . However, the brightest spot was still the mid lane, where Chovy's Hwei  became a "magician," making even the tankiest champion like  JunJia's Maokai  evaporate with  Despair Vortex  and his diverse skill set.

JDG's efforts ultimately only allowed them to hold out until the 28th minute, marking a crushing 0-3 defeat in the BO5 series in less than 90 minutes. The decisive victory propelled GEN.G to the 1-0 Bracket, while JDG had to seek a chance to advance from the Losers Bracket.

A spectacular battle between LYON and LOUD

What initially seemed uninteresting to international audiences turned out to be a dramatic contest. LYON , representing North America, quickly asserted their dominance by taking a 1-0 lead, but LOUD responded in Game 2, leveling the score at 1-1. LYON then took the lead again, 2-1, thanks to outstanding performances from players like Inspired, Saint, and Berserker.

But in game 4, Envy's outstanding performance with Akali  helped  LOUD push the match to game 5. Ultimately, in a back-and-forth battle, the LOUD players made more mistakes. This time, top laner Xyno played very well, but Envy became the player with the most errors. LYON had no difficulty exploiting those mistakes and secured a 3-2 victory.

Thus, LYON officially secured their ticket to the Winners Bracket, where the giant GEN.G awaits. Meanwhile, the home team LOUD is likely to end their journey when they face a JDG team hungry for victory. The third day of First Stand 2026 will begin with the match between Bilibili Gaming (BLG) and G2 at 8 PM tonight, with the winner officially securing their place in the Playoffs, while the loser will have a chance to start again from the lower bracket.

Following the opening match will be the decisive game between Team Secret Whales (TSW) and BNK FearX (BFX) to determine the first team to be eliminated from First Stand 2026. Facing the South Korean representative, the runner-up of the LCK Cup 2026, TSW's chances of winning are slim. Nevertheless, Vietnamese League of Legends fans still hope the players will give their all and at least secure one win. Let's watch and cheer for the representatives of VCS and LCP through the official channel on LOLESports or on other YouTube co-stream channels.
