Jack Black wants to be in the Yakuza film adaptation!

Jack Black, the actor who appeared in Minecraft and Super Mario Bros. , recently expressed his desire to appear in the Yakuza film adaptation .

In an interview with ScreenRant while promoting The Super Mario Galaxy Movie , Black revealed his next project. Specifically, he wants to be in a film adaptation of the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series – Sega's popular action game franchise.

Nevertheless, he admitted that he might not be suitable for the film's content due to his size.

"I'll boldly give it a try. I don't know for sure if there's a role for me, a chubby American guy, but just talk to me."

As for Jack Black, he will return as Bowser in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, alongside a host of familiar Nintendo characters such as Mouser, Wart, Birdo, and more.

Regarding the Yakuza game series , the franchise released a television series produced by Amazon in late 2024. However, the series received mixed reactions from fans of the game series due to its perceived lack of faithfulness to the original source material.

Most recently, Sega also released another film adaptation titled Yakuza Powered by Nihon Touitsu . Although it had a much lower production budget than Amazon's project, the Nihon Touitsu version received more praise from gamers.

However, we don't know for sure whether Sega intends to make another Yakuza adaptation .
