The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Reveals a Super Smooth PC Port

Following a recent video showcasing the PC port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the project team has now shared more details about the port's ability to run smoothly at 60 FPS.

The Twilight Princess PC port achieves 60 FPS.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of the most beloved installments in Nintendo's popular action-adventure series, praised for its fresh approach to combat, challenging dungeon system, and more mature storyline. Considered one of the series' best, fans are often disappointed that Twilight Princess is currently only available on the GameCube, Wii, and Wii U, and not on more modern hardware.

To address this, several developers have been porting Twilight Princess to PC, and the progress so far has been highly praised. This PC version is created through reverse engineering and decompilation of the source code so the game can run directly, essentially functioning as a port. Compared to emulators, this method offers several advantages such as mod support, a smoother and more optimized experience, and features like a randomizer.

Another feature of this PC port has recently been revealed, and it could be a game-changer. In a recent YouTube video by user linifadomra, fans got a clearer look at the upcoming PC port of Twilight Princess, currently titled Twilight Princess: Courage Reborn, running smoothly at 60 FPS. This is the best performance the game has ever achieved excluding emulators, as all previous official versions were locked at 30 FPS due to hardware limitations.

The general feedback from the community suggests that this port looks very impressive and almost ready for release. The video also shows that the game supports mouse and keyboard input, raising hopes that it can achieve a quality comparable to the unofficial PC version of Ocarina of Time.

The project developers stated that they couldn't determine when the project would be completed and are currently seeking further support to bring the port to a finish. However, the video shows the game is free of serious bugs or significant glitches, delivering an experience comparable to any official Twilight Princess game.

The community is looking forward to many more Zelda projects in the future.

A PC version like this would play a crucial role in maintaining the value and longevity of a classic Zelda game, while also giving new players the opportunity to experience the game on a modern platform. With the Zelda fan community still urging Nintendo to bring Wind Waker HD to Switch 2, the PC port of Twilight Princess could pave the way for Wind Waker to receive similar treatment.

With other installments like Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and A Link to the Past already having natural PC ports, perhaps this isn't the end of the community projects. With rumors of a remake expected in 2026 – coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Zelda franchise – this could be a truly significant milestone.

The combination of official projects and community efforts is opening up a promising future for the brand. The PC port is another excellent testament to Zelda fans' passion, and with its smooth 60 FPS experience, it's definitely a project not to be missed.
