The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is getting a remake on Nintendo Switch 2.
Recently, many fans have expressed disappointment at the lack of high-quality exclusive games for the Nintendo Switch 2. However, it seems Nintendo has been quietly preparing some 'secret weapons' to dispel these doubts.
In his latest podcast episode, NateTheHate shared details about upcoming strategic plans for the Switch 2. He not only revealed the upcoming release of the Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition this year, but also confirmed that a remake of a blockbuster game from The Legend of Zelda franchise is in development for the platform.
First released in 1998 on the Nintendo 64, Ocarina of Time has consistently been regarded by critics and players alike as one of the greatest games of all time. From the moment of its release, the game received numerous perfect scores from reputable review sites and the global gaming community.
If the Switch 2 project becomes a reality, it won't be the first time this masterpiece has been given a 'new look' or special treatment from the developer. In 2011, the 3D version of Ocarina of Time was a huge hit on the Nintendo 3DS handheld console. However, the upcoming project will mark the first remake of the game for a modern console.
As of now, there is no confirmed information on whether this will be a complete remake or just a graphical upgrade. While sources lean towards the possibility of a true remake rather than a simple HD remaster, fans still need to wait for official confirmation from the publisher. Nintendo is expected to unveil this secret this summer, most likely during the rumored Nintendo Direct event in June.
