Despite initial mixed reviews regarding its storyline and controls, Crimson Desert's massive scale has led to resounding commercial and critical success. Now, the development team is aiming for an even bigger goal.

At a recent shareholders' meeting, Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-Young officially confirmed the company's interest in releasing the game on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. He revealed that the development team has already begun research and development for this promising port project.

However, Jin-Young also frankly admitted the technical limitations of the Switch 2. Pearl Abyss is well aware that for Crimson Desert to run smoothly on Nintendo's console, they will have to cut back or fine-tune certain elements. Being able to shrink a massive open world onto a handheld gaming device without losing its distinctive appeal would undoubtedly be a remarkable technological achievement for the company.

Given that a series of blockbuster AAA games with high system requirements, such as Resident Evil Requiem, Star Wars Outlaws, and Cyberpunk 2077, have all been successfully ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, it's clear that this new generation console possesses a very formidable platform of power.

However, Crimson Desert presents a completely different and much more challenging task with its massive amount of content, offering at least 300 hours of gameplay. The feasibility of this project remains uncertain, and fans will need to wait for further official announcements from Pearl Abyss in the coming months.
