On March 25, 2026, the globally popular online card game Shadowverse officially announced its detailed closure roadmap, marking the end of its 10-year journey.
This game, developed by Cygames, will officially cease operations on June 30, 2026 (Pacific Time).
According to the publisher's announcement, the game's farewell process has officially begun:
Top-up restrictions : After the maintenance on March 24th, players will no longer be able to purchase additional crystals (crystals already purchased can still be used).
Compensation & Benefits: Due to the discontinuation of crystal sales, the publisher will be giving away the Season 23 Premium Pass for free to all players. Additionally, special offers such as the 'guaranteed leader package' have been removed.
Starting March 31st, the Throwback Rotation card pool will enter its final monthly reset phase.
The publisher also specifically noted that after 9:00 AM on July 1st (Vietnam time) , players will no longer be able to link their accounts to the sequel, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond . This means that those who wish to inherit progress or receive rewards must complete the linking process before the server shuts down.
Regarding the unused crystals, the plan for their disposal will be announced later on the official website and social media channels.
Notably, according to Japanese media reports in February, the new Shadowverse game, eight months after its release, had lost over 94% of its players and dropped out of the top 200 rankings.
Not only that, the new version on Steam also performed very poorly, with a positive review rate of only 24%, an average of about 10,000 players per day, while the initial peak exceeded 120,000.
After a decade of collaboration, the closure of Shadowverse demonstrates that even major IPs cannot escape the harsh realities of the gaming market's elimination process.
