Shadowverse officially announces its closure after a decade of operation.

Cygames, the game developer, has just announced with regret the end of its free-to-play digital card game, Shadowverse, after 10 years of service to the gaming community. images 1 of Shadowverse officially announces its closure after a decade of operation.

According to the plan, the game's servers will officially shut down at 7:00 PM on June 30, 2026, officially bringing to a close a proud journey. First launched globally on mobile platforms on June 17, 2016, followed by a PC version on Steam in late October of the same year, Shadowverse was initially conceived as a spin-off of Rage of Bahamut. However, the game quickly established its own appeal and grew strongly to build a massive community.

Over the past decade, the game has continuously evolved and expanded on a massive scale. From introducing the Portalcraft class, the Rotation and Unlimited game modes, to adding innovative game modes like Take Two and Cross Craft.

Throughout that journey, Cygames has released over 5,000 cards across 32 expansion sets, collaborated with numerous renowned brands, and delivered 20 epic story chapters featuring beloved original characters.

Thanks to the enthusiastic support from its fans, Shadowverse has transcended the boundaries of a typical card game to enter the professional esports arena. The culmination of this effort is the World Grand Prix international tournament series with a massive total prize pool of 100 million Yen.

The game's resounding success also launched a series of spin-off projects, including the physical card game Shadowverse: Evolve, the game Shadowverse: Champion's Battle on Nintendo Switch, and two animated series, Shadowverse and Shadowverse Flame.

Although the original game will cease operations, the brand's legacy will continue to be inherited and developed through Shadowverse: Evolve and, more importantly, its direct successor, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond. This sequel was released on PC and mobile devices in June 2025 and will continue to operate smoothly in the future.

To show appreciation to players during the final three months, Cygames has planned a series of special celebratory events, and the development team is also earnestly calling on the community to share their fondest memories of the game on social media platforms.
