Palworld: Katress Breeding Guide
Katress has a special ability that makes raising Neutral Pals more advantageous. For this reason, players should learn how to care for this Pal immediately.
In Palworld, there are over a hundred different Pals to discover, collect, and train. However, not all Pals are as easy to find as others. Some Pals are harder to find in the wild or can only be obtained through breeding and hatching. Among those Pals that can take a little time to obtain is Katress. Katress is a popular Pal due to her design and useful abilities.
However, obtaining this Pal can take a bit of time, as the lowest Pal you can find is around level 20 or in the Big Black Egg. Katress also has a habitat quite far from the starting point on the first island, so if you've already set up your Base, it might take some time to travel and search. For this reason, it might be easier to obtain Katress through the cultivation method, so knowing the matchups and requirements is important.
How to breed Katress in Palworld
In Palworld, players may want to obtain a Katress for a variety of reasons, from simply completing the Paldeck or leveraging the skills this Pal provides by making it an active member of their team, or as a convenient worker for their Base. However, since Katress spawns at least at level 20, and requires traveling far from the initial starting location in Palworld, it can take some time before a player can acquire one. This is where the breeding method comes in handy, allowing players to pair one of several qualifying Pals together at the Breeding Farm to create an Egg that will hatch into a Katress.
To use the cultivation method to obtain Katress, players will need to unlock the Cultivation Farm crafting recipe, which can be purchased with Technology Points from level 19 onwards. To craft the Cultivation Farm, you will need to unlock this recipe and consume some materials to build it into a working facility.
Farm-grown produce can be processed with the following ingredients:
- Wood x 100
- Stone x 20
- 50 strands
After building the Cultivation Farm, players will then need to bake some cakes and place them in the chest attached to the Cultivation Farm. For each cake added to this chest, you will be able to create an Egg from the cultivation process. Now, you will need to use the V key to pick up a male Pal and a female Pal and throw them into the Cultivation Farm to assign them to this facility.
After a short time, this pair should produce an Egg, which will appear as a Large Black Egg, provided you have used a male and female Pal from the pairings listed below. Finally, you just need to place the Egg in an incubator and wait the necessary time for it to hatch, which will reveal a Katress.

Where to Find & Catch Katress in Palworld
For players who can't use the farming method to obtain Katress for whatever reason, you're still in luck. Katress can also be found and encountered in the wild; however, this may take a considerable amount of travel time, depending on where you've chosen to set up your Base on the world map. As indicated on the world map below, Katress has a vast habitat distributed throughout the mid-to-peak region of the map, occupying large areas within this region. To know exactly which areas you should search, refer to this screenshot, where known Katress locations are marked with light green lights.
However, it's important to note that Katress only appears in the evenings in Palworld, as this is the only time of day when it's a spawning target. While this limits your search to specific playtimes, Katress has a vast habitat where it roams, making it easy to track and encounter it in these areas.
Katress is known to spawn from level 20 and above, so you'll need a balanced team with a few Pals of the same or slightly higher level to ensure you can deal damage and successfully spawn her. Bringing an overly high-level team might cause you to accidentally kill Katress and miss the spawn opportunity, while bringing a low-level team might result in Katress defeating you and forcing you to restart the hunt.
In case Katress is having trouble hunting, there's a third method you can use to obtain this Pal. Katress is one of many Pals that can be sold by the Blacksmith you encounter on the islands, so it's worth checking to see the current inventory of any you may have located during your adventure.
