Every month, the online game sales platform Steam conducts a survey and compiles statistics on the hardware and software that its customers are using. The survey is optional, meaning Steam users have the right to decline providing information if they wish. Furthermore, all participants remain completely anonymous. The information from this survey helps Valve make decisions about technology investments and which products to offer its customers.

According to the survey conducted in January, the NVIDIA RTX 3060 was the most widely used GPU, with 4.83% of users. This is not surprising, as the RTX 3060 is reasonably priced and still offers sufficient performance to play the latest games; the author himself is currently using one. The GPUs that followed were the GTX 1650, RTX 3060 Laptop, GTX 1060, RTX 2060, and so on.

Despite the popularity of RTX GPUs, the majority of gamers still use the HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, with 59.7% of users. Meanwhile, the 2K 2560 x 1440 resolution, which the author frequently uses, only reaches 16.02% of users.

The survey also revealed NVIDIA's absolute dominance in the PC market. According to the survey, 74.25% of users use NVIDIA GPUs, compared to only 16.46% for AMD, 8.42% for Intel, and the remaining 0.87% for other brands. Regarding CPUs, Intel accounts for 64.78% of users, with AMD making up the remainder.
