FromSoftware has no plans to develop Elden Ring 2.

As is known, the PlayStation Awards officially took place yesterday, and the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree , won the Grand Award. This award is given to the three games developed in Japan/Asia with the highest sales worldwide from October 2023 to September 2024. Speaking after receiving the award, Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of FromSoftware , shared the company's plans for the future of Elden Ring. For now, FromSoftware has no intention of developing a sequel to this popular action RPG . However, according to Miyazaki, that doesn't mean the IP has come to an end: "We don't rule out the possibility of developing the Elden Ring IP in some form in the future."

Previously, Miyazaki had also discussed the possibility of adapting Elden Ring into a film or television series, provided they found a suitable partner. However, some gamers are concerned about the feasibility of this project, as Elden Ring's storytelling isn't particularly well-suited for film adaptation. Clearly, if given the choice, the majority of gamers would likely prefer a game that continues the legacy of Elden Ring rather than a film. As previously reported, Sony is planning to acquire FromSoftware's parent company, Kadokawa . This news has pushed Kadokawa's market value above $4 billion. Besides Sony, other major players like Tencent and Kakao are also reportedly interested in Kadokawa. If this deal is successful, it's unclear what impact it will have on FromSoftware and its future plans.
