Warning about the latest RTX 5090 scam: Looks perfect on the outside, but inside it's just an empty shell.
Recently, an eBay seller shared the heartbreaking story of losing their Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, worth over $4,000 (approximately 100 million VND). Initially, everything went smoothly until the "valued" customer requested a return. Upon opening the box, the seller found the card still sealed and in pristine condition, without a single scratch.
However, feeling something was "off" with the weight, the shop owner decided to remove the heatsink to check. And boom! A horrifying scene unfolded: the entire GPU core and expensive VRAM memory chips had vanished without a trace.
Even more alarming, this wasn't an amateurish act of tampering. According to experts, the scammers must possess extremely high skill and use specialized heat guns to remove the chips without damaging the PCB or leaving any external marks. Many suspect these chips will then be "modified" and fitted into custom circuit boards for AI server systems that are in dire need of components.
This is a huge wake-up call for the PC Master Race community, especially those who frequently trade used equipment or buy through e-commerce platforms. "Magicians" aren't just in movies anymore; they've appeared in the hardware world with incredibly sophisticated tricks.
Currently, sellers are in a "lose money, get nothing in return" situation because it's very difficult to prove to the platform that the buyer swapped the internal components without a video recording of the device being disassembled at the time of return.
In conclusion: What do gamers think about this high-level "item swapping" technique? Will the RTX 5090 era become a new "gold mine" for high-tech scam gangs? Leave your comments below!
