Blizzard Unexpectedly Announces Top-Down Overwatch Game for Mobile

Blizzard has officially announced the new mobile game Overwatch, featuring a unique and innovative top-down perspective gameplay.

Overwatch Rush unexpectedly appears for mobile devices.

Recently, the name has been gradually regaining popularity after  Blizzard  decided to completely overhaul the game, releasing new content, new characters, and a more tightly constructed storyline with the first chapter of the new season, which just began at the end of January.

And it seems Blizzard decided to capitalize on that popularity by announcing a new spinoff game for mobile phones, designed with a completely new top-down perspective, while still maintaining gameplay similar to the PC game.

The latest  Overwatch trailer  showcases a classic match from  Overwatch 's  Control  mode , with each team consisting of approximately four players. The lineup featured in the trailer includes four characters:  Reinhardt, Mercy, Tracer  , and  Soldier 76,  all possessing similar skill sets to their PC counterparts.

The main differences lie in the top-down perspective and control mechanics. Reportedly,  this Overwatch Rush project  was created  by an international Blizzard team with  "extensive mobile gaming experience."

Overwatch Rush  is still in early development and has no release date yet. However, the game has an official Discord server where developers can provide updates to fans. Before launch, the game will undergo a series of tests to check stability, and fans can register through the official Discord server (although initially it will be limited to certain regions).

Upon its official launch, the game is expected to be free-to-play with the option to purchase superhero costumes and accessories for real money. The developers affirm that they will welcome all feedback from the fan community, and  "monetization elements may be adjusted during beta testing"  based on that feedback. The game is currently planned for release on Android and iOS, but does not yet support controllers.
