How to Participate
Entering the 'Space God' season, all Teamfight Tactics (TFT) tournaments will continue to be held on Riot Games' official platform. TFT players in all regions need to ensure they have set up their Tournament Pass. With this pass, players can register to participate in events, receive login information to the Tournament Server, and share their TFT journey. To register for TFT Season 17 tournaments, players will need to finalize their Tournament Pass before April 27th!
Tournament Structure
The new tournament structure and all the details regarding the competition format have been updated on the Compete TFT website on April 20th.
With Season 17, Teamfight Tactics continues to improve its tournament ecosystem with updates aimed at streamlining the global structure. This includes smoother qualifying routes, a clearer progression path, and a more tightly connected journey from regional tournaments to the world stage, all orchestrated by the stars of the Space Gods.
The biggest change in Season 17 is the improvement of the Regional Qualifiers, which will now be two-week tournaments designed to open doors for both new and veteran players to enter the TFT esports system. For Vietnam specifically, the Vietnamese Qualifiers will still be held to determine the representatives for the Regional Qualifiers.
This update makes tournaments easier to follow and participate in, while eliminating confusion surrounding tournament names. Here are the details of the main changes Riot Games will implement in Season 17:
- Qualifying Points: Players can accumulate Qualifying Points based on their performance in Regional Qualifiers 1 and 2, giving them a chance to advance to the Play-Ins of the Regional Finals if they finish outside the Top 8 in these tournaments.
- The four players with the highest Qualifying Points after the second Regional Qualifier will earn a spot in the Play-In round of the Regional Finals.
- Ranking System: The ranking system for each server cluster will select the top players based on their ranking performance throughout the season. Those with the highest rankings will advance directly to the Regional Finals.
- In Season 17: 'Space God', there will be 5 Ladder Snapshot ranking rounds at 8:00 PM (Vietnam time) on fixed Tuesdays in the APAC region. These ranking rounds will award Ranking Points to the top 30 players in each region, and these points play a crucial role in determining the slots for the Season 17 Regional Finals.
- For Season 17, the ranking stages took place at the following times:
- April: 28th
- May: 5th, 19th, 26th
- June: Day 2
- Small Regional Tournaments: Local competitions that award prizes and qualification spots for the Regional Qualifiers. Regions can also look forward to Community Tournaments throughout Season 17, offering players a chance to compete even after leaving the Regional Qualifiers.
- In Season 17, the Vietnam National Teamfight Tactics Championship will be held for the third consecutive year. The event remains part of the national professional competition system organized by Riot Games, VNGGames, and the Vietnam eSports and Entertainment Association (VIRESA), expanding competitive opportunities for the TFT community.
- In Season 17, the TFT National Championship still features three stages of competition: Stage 1, Stage 2, and the National Finals. Players participating in the tournament can also compete for a chance to qualify for the APAC Regional Qualifiers.
The competition consists of four main stages:
- Regional Qualifiers: The first official Teamfight Tactics tournament in each region's cycle. 256 players begin their journey after earning a spot through the Ladder Snapshots (AMER/EMEA/APAC) and Regional Tournaments (AMER/APAC).
- The Championship Series (TPC): The 32 best players from the previous season in each region will compete in a special, high-level tournament. Three weekend matches will determine those who qualify directly for the Tactical Crown, while the remaining players can advance to Week 1 or Week 2 of the Regional Finals, depending on their individual performance.
- TPC is a competitive ecosystem based on Tier 1, the highest level in each region. These will be the timelines for the three TPC Cup tournaments in Season 17: 'Space God', each uniquely named after the prominent Origins/Classes of TFT Season 17.
