Marvel Rivals unveils new anti-cheat technology to improve the player experience.
NetEase is implementing a 'comprehensive upgrade' to its anti-game-breaking measures.
Following the Marvel Rivals scandal involving a website promising to pay players to intentionally sabotage matches, NetEase is implementing a 'comprehensive upgrade' to its anti-sabotage measures. The new system combines both automated and manual evaluation to help identify those intentionally disrupting matches, and will compensate lost ranking points if intentional sabotage is identified.
The Intlist website, which first appeared on February 23, allows players to place bounties on those who sabotage and cheat, encouraging others to join their game rooms to intentionally lose as a form of revenge.
In response, Marvel Rivals issued a statement emphasizing its 'strict zero-tolerance policy toward any form of malicious sabotage.' They added: 'This behavior not only undermines the integrity of the game but also harms the experience of honest players who are committed to fair competition.'
Following this public crackdown campaign, the developer stated that they had 'received a lot of feedback and suggestions from the community' and thanked players for their input. 'We are ready to implement a comprehensive upgrade to our anti-cheat measures.'
This upgrade comprises two parts: detection and compensation. NetEase explained: "We have deployed a completely new detection system across all servers. This system uses a combination of big data analytics and manual review to enhance the ability to detect intentional game-breaking behavior. When violations are confirmed, the offending accounts will face severe penalties."
Along with that is a compensation system. 'To ensure the fairness of the match, we introduce the Victim Compensation Process. If your loss and point deduction are due to confirmed misconduct by a teammate, the system will automatically restore the lost points.'
In an effort to 'reinforce the principles of fair competition,' the developer has also tightened regulations regarding negative gameplay behavior. 'Accounts found to be engaging in disruptive behavior, such as intentionally going AFK or deliberately sabotaging matches, will face severe penalties after being reported and verified.'
