Metro 2039 is ready to be revealed in two days, heading towards the next chapter.

The next chapter in the post-apocalyptic survival FPS series Metro has been officially announced and will be fully revealed on April 16th on the Xbox YouTube channel.

Based on the post-apocalyptic novel series by author Dmitry Glukhovsky, the game series of the same name first launched in March 2010 with the game Metro 2033. Developed by 4A Games, a Ukrainian studio founded by many former members of the brand's development team, the series has spawned three main storyline games.

The story primarily revolves around [Name], one of the survivors of the 2013 nuclear war that devastated Moscow. The franchise also has a VR spin-off game called Metro Awakening, released in 2024. Recently, the Twitter accounts of 4A Games and Deep Silver unexpectedly announced the existence of what is believed to be the "next chapter" in the franchise.

The official announcement came a few days after leaker AlexandreNGamR claimed a new Metro game would be revealed this week. Additionally, the Xbox account indicated that the Metro 2039 project will have an Xbox First Look broadcast taking place around 10 AM on April 16th (equivalent to 0 AM on April 17th in Vietnam time).

Metro 2039 promises to deliver a new story.

Although not much information has been revealed, the description on the YouTube channel gives a glimpse of what fans can expect: "Journey into the dark heart of a post-apocalyptic Moscow, in a fierce conflict for the soul of the subway (Metro) system." 

This description is quite interesting, especially for those who have played the latest game. In it, the player controls Artyom once again, but instead of trying to survive in the Moscow sewers, he and many others have left the city to venture into the outside environment.

Similar to its predecessor, Metro Exodus features several different endings depending on the player's actions. It's currently unclear whether there are intentions to bring Artyom back as the main character, or whether it will begin an entirely new chapter in this underground survival story.

The official description of the Xbox First Look: Metro 2039 video also confirms the game will be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. It's highly likely the game will also be released on Xbox Game Pass upon its official launch.
