Pragmata on Nintendo Switch 2 surprisingly surpasses the graphics of Xbox Series S.
Since its launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 has breathed new life into a host of AAA blockbusters. In the case of Capcom's Pragmata, this handheld console even demonstrated significantly superior graphics processing capabilities compared to its Xbox Series S version.
Despite its compact size, the Nintendo Switch 2 can smoothly run many blockbuster titles like Star Wars: Outlaws and Cyberpunk 2077. Currently, publishers have begun releasing games on this platform simultaneously with other hardware systems. Capcom is one of the pioneering companies in optimizing games for the Switch 2 from the development stage, notably with the Resident Evil Requiem project.
Now, the latest game from the Japanese giant, Pragmata, further demonstrates the platform's strength by running smoothly and surpassing even its rival, the Xbox Series S. The fact that AAA masterpieces are no longer limited to being playable on Nintendo Switch 2 has opened up a whole new door of opportunity for development studios worldwide.
In a recent analysis video, Digital Foundry revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Pragmata surpasses the Xbox Series S port in almost every visual aspect. Although the action game appears similar on both platforms at first glance, experts point out that Microsoft's console has suffered significant graphical downgrades.
Specifically, the shadows on the Xbox Series S appear grainier and more blurry compared to the Switch 2. The surface textures of objects also favor Nintendo's hybrid console with higher detail, although both systems have actually had reduced resource quality compared to the PlayStation 5 version.
Furthermore, the Switch 2 surpasses the cheaper Xbox console in overall image quality. The Switch 2 processes and reproduces images much better, while the Series S's internal 720p resolution drags down quality and leaves jagged edges.
However, Microsoft's platform still holds the advantage in terms of performance. Pragmata runs stably at 60 FPS on the Series S, while the frame rate on the Switch 2 is quite erratic, fluctuating between 30 and 60 FPS. Nevertheless, Digital Foundry believes this issue can be easily resolved with an update that locks the frame rate at 30 FPS.
