Try Palworld: Pokémon Survival!
Try Palworld – What would it be like to combine a survival game with the creature-hunting style of Pokémon , and throw in a few… guns!? The result is Palworld, developed by Pocket Pair, Inc.
This is clearly a rather strange formula, but it's obviously a particularly good game at attracting attention from the gaming community, the clearest proof being that the game easily reached over a million concurrent players on Steam, even surpassing major titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring .
So what makes this game so interesting? What has made it so popular?
Let's explore this further with tipsplay.net in the following article!
1. AN ADDICTIVE HUNTING EXPERIENCE
Upon entering the world of Palworld , players are quickly greeted by a vast world teeming with creatures called 'Pals', which you can capture to make companions for your journey ahead.
To capture them, you'll need to gather materials, craft Sphere Orbs, and then throw them at the creature to subdue it.
One interesting aspect of Palworld is that players can directly participate in combat using a wide variety of weapons, from sticks, spears, and bows and arrows to modern weapons like guns and missiles.
Overall, once you get used to Palworld 's hunting mechanics , conquering Pals, especially rare creatures, becomes very fun and somewhat addictive, because you'll have many options and freedom in the hunting process.
Typically, players can position themselves in a high corner or behind large rocks where their attacks cannot reach them, and then use ranged weapons to easily deal with the Pals on the ground. This tactic is especially effective against creatures higher than yourself.
Alternatively, if players want to experience the classic 'Pokémon catching' feeling, they can also summon Pals to fight alongside them. However, in the writer's experience, these creatures have relatively slow attack speeds and often miss, so fighting by themselves or using Pals as weapons in battle is still preferred.
Speaking of using Pals as weapons, players can use four-legged creatures like Chillet and Melpaca as mounts to increase movement speed or even use them in combat. A plus point is that you can directly use their skills in battle, and moreover, most of the damage is deducted from the Pals you are riding, which is quite convenient when fighting bosses.
For smaller creatures, some allow you to use them as weapons; for example, you can use Foxparks as flamethrowers, or Lifmunk and Tanzee as submachine guns. This mechanism is quite convenient, especially in the early stages of the game, when you don't yet have the ability to craft firearms.
2. UNIQUE MANAGEMENT AND SURVIVAL ASPECTS!
In addition to the hunting aspect, the survival aspect in Palworld is also quite well-developed and has depth, offering plenty for players to experiment with.
The game's building aspect is quite similar to survival games like ARK: Survival Evolved and Subnautica ; players can construct structures such as building tables, potion tables, or even farms for cultivation.
These items can be unlocked by spending Technology Points as the character levels up. The higher the level, the more advanced structures and equipment the player will have access to, such as weapon crafting tables, egg incubators, or even generators.
However, the unique aspect here is that players can command the Pals they capture to perform tasks at their base, such as gathering items, cooking, or even crafting weapons.
The only thing the player needs to do is keep the Pals happy by feeding them, building play areas for them, or you can occasionally pet them, give them premium treats, typically the meat of other Pals that the player has hunted.
3. PERSONAL OPINION
Overall, the Palworld demo has a lot for players to explore, especially the building and management of Pals, which is quite well-developed, creating a unique and engaging experience.
Furthermore, the game boasts a relatively large number of Pals, along with a fairly large map filled with bosses and rare Pals scattered throughout, enough to keep players immersed in adventures and exploration for dozens of hours without getting bored.
However, possibly due to the game being in Early Access, the Palworld demo still has many performance issues. For example, when the player base can accommodate around 8-10 Pals, the frame rate drops significantly, sometimes even falling below 30 FPS during the writer's experience.
Furthermore, minor bugs occur very frequently, typically involving Pals getting stuck in corners or, worse, falling off the map, which often interrupts the player's experience.
5. WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED?
Palworld is currently in Early Access and does not yet have an official launch date.
