Try playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
Try playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes –Surely, anyone who grew up with a PlayStation or PlayStation 2 console has been immersed in incredibly popular JRPG titles likeFinal Fantasy,Front Mission,Breath of Fire… And of course, we can't forgetSuikoden.
Considered the successor to Suikoden , sharing the same creator Yoshitaka Murayama, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes immediately received $4.5 million from fans through Kickstarter, becoming the third game to secure such a large amount of funding from the platform, after Shenmue III and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night .
Suikoden captivates players with its unique strengths: a massive cast of characters, top-notch strategic gameplay, and a fantastic storyline—qualities rarely found in games of the same genre.
The announcement of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes hit the nail on the head, and the inclusion of Yoshitaka's name further reinforced the belief in the game's success.
So, does the game possess the strengths that have made the Suikoden series so appealing ?
Let's explore the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes demo version together with Vietgame.Asia in the following article!
1. A HUGE CASTLE OF CHARACTERS
It's safe to say that countless distinctive Suikoden elements are evident from the very first moments of playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes , and the massive cast of characters is one of the first things the game introduces.
Follow Nowa as he embarks on the journey of a country boy exploring the world.
Joining the Watch mercenary group, Nowa is tasked with cooperating with the Imperial army to explore ancient ruins. During the investigation, Nowa befriends Lieutenant Seign Kesling of the Empire.
However, what they discovered at the site triggered a whirlwind of fate that neither of them could have foreseen…
Besides the two characters mentioned above, the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes demo offers a total of approximately seven characters that you can recruit.
Each character will have different eligibility requirements and possess very distinct personalities: the arrogant Lian always tries to tease Nowa, the old wolf Garr always acts like the 'father' of the group, and the magical girl Mellore always spouts clichés like a superhero…
All of this makes Nowa's journey colorful, and their friendship helps them overcome many difficulties together.
And these are just 7 of the more than 110 characters you can recruit in the game!
2. FAMILIAR COMBAT GAMEPLAY
To take advantage of this massive cast of characters, the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes demo also allows you to experience its tactical turn-based combat system.
You are allowed to bring a maximum of 6 characters into each match, with three on the front lines and the rest in the rear.
At the start of combat, each character will be allowed to perform a normal attack, use Rune-Lens skills, defend, or use an item.
You will have to make decisions for each character at the beginning of each turn. After confirming the sequence of actions, all characters (including enemies) will move as predetermined.
Rune-Lens skills cost either SP or MP, depending on the character and the type of Rune you equip them with. SP can be gradually restored with each turn, while MP cannot. Therefore, you will need to carefully manage your resources, especially at the beginning of the game when your MP is limited.
At this point, the characters in the game continue to showcase their unique "style," as each character possesses different stats and defensive skills. Some can block attacks, some enhance their evasion abilities, while others erect magical shields to resist damage…
You need to know the strengths and weaknesses of each character to position them appropriately, minimizing casualties in combat. For example, Garr has high physical attack and defense, but a slow attack speed, making him suitable for the front line to absorb damage. Lian and Nowa have relatively high speed, making them suitable for quickly finishing off opponents.
Characters can also unleash combined attacks called Hero Combos. These attacks consume turns from both characters along with their SP, but in return, they often deal incredibly high damage and provide more powerful effects that can turn the tide of battle.
For those who have played Suikoden , this fighting style is probably very familiar, right?
In certain battles, the game also introduces environmental elements, which you will have to interact with to more easily conquer the battle. For example, timing your turn to take cover behind rocks to dodge area-of-effect attacks, or… predicting the location of a giant mole to inflict damage.
One new feature compared to its predecessor is the auto-battle capability, which you can utilize when encountering pointless battles. You can pre-set the behavior of each character, similar to Final Fantasy XII , and they will act according to corresponding commands.
All of the above points make the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes demo extremely engaging and challenging, despite its relatively short playtime of only 5-7 hours.
3. A NEW LOOK
Featuring graphics similar to 2D-HD, the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes demo brought a fresh look to the world, which was traditionally JRPG-style. The entire environment was rendered in 3D, making the nooks and crannies of each location incredibly visually appealing to explore and interact with.
In urban areas, characters are spread out, and you can interact with them to learn more about the setting, area, and in-game information.
Sometimes, you might even unexpectedly encounter a new person ready to join your team!
In the dungeon and ruins areas, you'll easily encounter various types of puzzles, such as memorizing short codes to unlock doors, or moving carts to clear paths.
Although not overly challenging, these activities make your adventure much more enjoyable!
5. WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASED?
