Worshippers of Cthulhu arrives on Xbox Series X, bringing city-building gameplay into the Lovecraftian horror world.

Worshippers of Cthulhu, a horror-themed city-building game, will officially be released on Xbox Series 1 on March 27th. This announcement, made by publisher Crytivo and developer Crazy Goat Games, marks the game's expansion to a new platform after its PC launch.

Inspired by the works of HP Lovecraft, Worshippers of Cthulhu puts players in the role of a cult leader aiming to awaken the ancient entity Cthulhu. Players will begin by building and managing cities across various islands, gradually expanding the cult's influence.

Resource management and community governance are key elements. Players need to ensure the stable development of settlements while maintaining the loyalty of their followers in a world rife with supernatural threats.

Beyond just city-building, the game incorporates elements of strategy and highly consequential decision-making. Players can perform dark rituals to communicate with extraterrestrial entities, thereby unlocking new powers and knowledge to aid in territorial expansion.

In addition, exploring mysterious lands, gathering resources, and facing unique challenges are also important parts of the gameplay. Players will constantly have to balance Cthulhu's 'patience' and the cult's level of 'fanaticism' to ensure long-term survival.

One of the notable aspects of Worshippers of Cthulhu is its choice system regarding non-clique members. Players can decide whether to 'convert' them into loyal followers or sacrifice them for rituals. These decisions not only affect progression but also directly impact the environment and overall state of the game, forcing players to carefully consider each step.

Before its arrival on Xbox Series, Worshippers of Cthulhu launched in Early Access on PC in October 2024 and officially released in May 2025. A PlayStation 5 version is also in the works, indicating the game's ambition to expand its player base in the near future.
