Located in the northeastern part of the Sumeru desert, Fontaine is a nation ruled by the Water God – the God of Justice, Focalors. Under this influence, trials have become a public 'event' at the Epiclese Theatre – where magic, comedy, tragedy, and various other performances take place. There, the latest chapter of the game's Magical Quest will take place, where players will witness the great magic of Lyney and Lynette, along with an ongoing trial.

As a country surrounded by water, certain areas of Fontaine offer adventurous underwater gameplay never before seen.

Thanks to a special blessing, players don't need to worry about running out of oxygen while 'submerged' in water, although 'impacts' will still consume some of their stamina. Furthermore, players can use Recovery Bubbles to restore stamina, or swim through Water Bubbles to move faster.

Underwater combat also becomes more intense, requiring different techniques to complete, unlocking the ability to absorb special energy from aquatic creatures to protect oneself, disarm traps, and obtain treasures entangled in seaweed.

Fontaine will offer players a brand-new boss battle against the 'Ice Wind Medley,' a fusion of technology and art created by a pair of wind-up robot dancers.

Players can choose one of two themes when challenging, and the duo will begin attacking using the Ice element to a rhythm inspired by figure skating and dance – both elegant and intense.

Finally, Fontaine's launch also brought the 'Clocked Front' event with three new gameplay experiments, including 'Flow Race' featuring underwater movement gameplay, the 'Performance Simulation' combat experiment, and the new 'Rhythm Response' music experiment.

2. New character

Not just one or two, the Genshin Impact 4.0 update will bring three new characters: the siblings Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet.

Lyney, the older brother, is a renowned magician from Fontaine and a 5-star Fire element character who uses a bow. In combat, when aiming his weapon, in addition to dealing damage, Lyney also summons a 'cat hat' to taunt enemies.

When using her ultimate ability, Lyney will use a 'trick' to transform into the Fiery Cat Hat and unleash fireworks during combat, dealing continuous Fire damage for a period of time.

At that time, Lynette, Lyney's younger sister, was considered her best assistant and would join as a 4-star Wind elemental character wielding a single sword. The humble assistant Lynette could quickly approach enemies like Yelan, simultaneously marking them and dealing Wind damage. Through her Ultimate skill, Lynette would summon the Fierce Cat Box to deal continuous Wind damage for a period of time, while also taunting nearby enemies.

Notably, players with Adventure Rank 25 or higher will be able to receive Lynette for free in the new event.

The last of the three brothers is the youngest, Freminet. He is an excellent diver and will debut as a 4-star character wielding a greatsword.

Freminet can use 'Pers's Hour' to deal physical and Ice elemental damage through his Elemental Skill. Activating his Rage Skill increases damage and empowers his Elemental Skill, while also refreshing the skill's cooldown.

In Genshin Impact 4.0 's Prayer event , Lyney, Lynette, and the return of Yelan will appear in the first half of the game, while the return of Zhongli, Tartaglia, and the debut of Freminet will be in the second half.
