Crimson Desert makes a spectacular comeback on Steam after a turbulent launch.
Initially plagued by numerous technical issues that severely impacted the player experience, Crimson Desert is now finally showcasing its full potential and inherent appeal after several quality updates.
According to the latest reports, the studio's tireless efforts have paid off. The patch for version 1.01.00 was officially released today, bringing with it a host of valuable improvements. As a result, Crimson Desert's overall rating on Steam has dramatically shifted from 'Mixed' to 'Very Positive'. This demonstrates the development team's dedication to listening to and responding to community feedback on their large-scale project.
Upon its initial release, the game suffered from numerous flaws, ranging from clunky technical glitches and unreasonably difficult boss battles to unintuitive controls. However, most of these issues have now been thoroughly addressed.
A similar positive trend is also occurring on the review site Metacritic. While the initial user score was only average, it has now steadily climbed to an impressive 8.7 and continues to grow almost daily, clearly reflecting the growing affection fans have for the game.
Of course, the gaming community also acknowledges that Crimson Desert is not a flawless masterpiece. The game still has a few drawbacks, most notably the storyline which isn't truly outstanding – a shortcoming that even Pearl Abyss itself has admitted. However, when compared to a vast open world and countless engaging exploration elements, these minor flaws seem to fade into the background.
Overall, Crimson Desert is currently in a solid position, capable of becoming a strong contender for Game of the Year in 2026. It promises to be a future classic, and the developers are working hard to maintain that excellent performance.
