Leaked Release Timeline for The Duskbloods on Nintendo Switch 2

Fans have been waiting for news about FromSoftware's The Duskbloods since its initial announcement, and recent 'rumors' have provided a clearer glimpse into when they might get to experience the game.

The Duskbloods appears to have a release date.

The partnership between FromSoftware and Nintendo is actually much deeper than many people realize. The studio has a history of developing exclusive games for the Nintendo platform spanning decades, including GameCube classics like Lost Kingdoms and Lost Kingdoms 2. The project was originally conceived for the first Switch console, but underwent a significant overhaul as the development team gained access to the hardware power of the next generation.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki once shared in a Creator's Voice interview that the new console allowed the team to realize technical goals more effectively, especially regarding online features. Thanks to a close partnership with Nintendo – which is believed to have provided financial support to realize the initial idea – many experts believe that  The Duskbloods  will be a long-term Switch 2 exclusive. Recently, a well-known industry insider,  Nate the Hate ,  mentioned the development progress  of The Duskbloods  in a YouTube podcast while discussing upcoming games (around minute 32).

Therefore, the game is unlikely to be released in the summer. Instead, leaked information suggests the game will launch in 'late' 2026, most likely October or later to avoid the fiercely competitive summer season. Additionally, there is speculation that the development team will hold both closed and open beta tests before release to balance gameplay and test the server system. This is necessary given the scale of the PvPvE game, as well as its status as a Switch 2 exclusive blockbuster.

A number of major Switch 2 projects were mentioned.

Recent leaks about the Switch 2 lineup also mention several other projects, including:

  • Two Star Fox games - one with a classic style, the other more adventure-oriented.
  • A 3D Mario game is expected to be released in 2027.
  • A Switch Sports edition is scheduled for release in summer 2026.
  • A remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 2026 (not based on the 3DS version)
  • The Mario Kart World DLC was originally scheduled for 2026 but has been postponed to 2027.
  • The Super Metroid remake.
  • Metroid 6, but not yet released in 2026.

The Fall 2026 release window will set the stage for a competitive yet exciting period, with a host of other blockbuster titles also rumored to launch in the first year of the Switch 2. In addition, FromSoftware is also developing a port of Elden Ring for the new system, but this entirely new IP remains the top priority.

Fans probably won't have to wait too long for official confirmation, as a detailed showcase and new trailer are expected to take place this coming summer. This will be an opportunity for players to get a clearer look at the steampunk gear and character skills that have been previously revealed. In the meantime, the community is closely monitoring all official information regarding the final release date and pre-order plans.
