Top 4 'Easter Eggs' in the Mortal Kombat 1 trailer!

Mortal Kombat 1 Trailer – After causing a stir among the gaming community with their teaser video, NetherRealm Studios finally revealed more about the gameplay and storyline of Mortal Kombat 1 at yesterday's Summer Game Fest event by releasing a new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer .

The trailer gives us a fairly detailed look at the new fighting mechanics, as well as how to use the Kameo Fighters system. Not only that, it also reveals some details about the main storyline and the sequence of events within this 'New Era' timeline.

Moreover, the video also hides many Easter Egg secrets that many hardcore fans of the game series missed when they first watched it!

So, let's take a look at the top 4 'Easter Eggs' in the Mortal Kombat 1 trailer below, as compiled by tipsplay.net!

1. SCORPION AND SUB-ZERO ARE BROTHERS

Perhaps the most unexpected move was that the two oldest and most long-standing enemies in the game series' history, Sub-Zero and Scorpion, would not only join forces but would also be… brothers.

After showing the new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer at Summer Game Fest, Ed Boon (the 'father' of the Mortal Kombat series ) took to the stage and exchanged a few words with Geoff Keighley (the host). While discussing changes to the storyline, Ed calmly dropped a bombshell: Sub-Zero and Scorpion are. brothers in this installment.

Although this isn't the first time the two have collaborated ( Mortal Kombat X , Mortal Kombat 11 ), the mere fact that they are biological brothers has led the online community to speculate and guess about many important milestones that have occurred between the two characters.

Many people have asked questions such as: Is this Sub-Zero Bi-Han or Kuai Liang? How can Scorpion use his abilities if he's not being manipulated by Quan Chi? Why do they both have identical outfits?

Some early adopters of the game have confirmed that this Sub-Zero is indeed Bi-Han.

Speaking of clothing, Scorpion in this version seems to be a member of the Lin Kuei group rather than Shirai Ryu, because not only do Scorpion and Sub-Zero wear similar outfits, but they both have Lin Kuei pins on their shirts.

For those unfamiliar with Mortal Kombat 's lore , the Shirai Ryu guild was founded by a former member of the Lin Kuei, named Takeda.

In this New Era timeline, it's possible that Liu Kang prevented Takeda from leaving Lin Kuei, and at the same time, prevented the existence of Shirai Ryu.

2. Is Mileena not a copy of Kitana?

Another unexpected twist that Mortal Kombat fans couldn't have predicted is that Mileena will be Kitana's biological sister, not a clone of her.

Despite this, Mileena still retains her terrifying teeth and voice.

For those who don't know, in an earlier timeline ( Mortal Kombat issues 9 to 11), Shang Tsung combined Kitana's genes with those of the Tarkatan species to create Mileena. This resulted in her having an appearance identical to her sister… except for her teeth.

In the new version, the reason Mileena has these teeth doesn't seem to be due to cloning, but rather to some mysterious illness.

Some people wonder why Liu Kang left Mileena's teeth intact instead of using his abilities to remove them completely.

We still don't have the answer to this, but one theory suggests that although Liu Kang has the ability to create new timelines, some things remain beyond his control.

Not only that, it seems the relationship between these two characters will also change quite a bit, because the first thing many observant fans noticed is that Kitana cares deeply about Mileena, instead of treating her as a… mistake of nature.

Furthermore, Mileena's fighting style is also quite different from previous versions. Instead of fighting like a wild beast, Mileena possesses the demeanor of a noblewoman.

This could also imply that Kitana and Mileena grew up together in wealth and were both treated fairly.

3. SHORTER INTRODUCTORY DIALOGUE

If you've played the previous two games, Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 , you'll know that before two players start fighting, there's a short dialogue between the two characters they've chosen.

The dialogue is structured like this: character 1 speaks first, character 2 responds, and character 1 concludes the dialogue.

In the new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer , it seems NetherRealm Studios felt this was affecting the player experience, so they significantly shortened everything.

Instead of taking place at the beginning of the match, dialogue will now occur immediately after both players have selected their characters and arena. Additionally, dialogues will only have two turns instead of three (one character initiates and the other finishes).

Specifically, the dialogue that takes place after character selection ensures that the game doesn't need a loading screen; instead, it automatically switches the environment around the two characters to the selected level.

4. KAMEO FIGHTERS WILL HAVE SEVERAL DIFFERENT OUTFITS

One of the new features introduced in this version is Kameo Fighters – characters that players cannot use for normal attacks, but can only use to support during combat (quite similar to Marvel vs. Capcom ).

In the video, we can see classic versions of many familiar characters like Jax, Kano, Sonya… appearing to help players escape opponent's combos, support players by attacking enemies to extend combos, perform grabs, etc.

Notably, these characters can also perform X-Ray attacks alongside the main character (the character the player chooses to fight).

Furthermore, it appears that Kameo Fighters can also perform Fatality moves. At the end of the video, the classic version of Sub-Zero is summoned by the player and single-handedly 'takes down' the enemy.

Specifically for Sonya, we get to see the character wearing two different outfits. She first wears the outfit from the original Mortal Kombat game (1992), and near the end of the trailer, we see her wearing the outfit from Mortal Kombat 3 .

This also seems to confirm that players will be able to customize the costumes for Kameo Fighters characters.

Some individuals online have also raised the question: could we change other elements such as Fatality moves, and the opening (intro) and closing (outro) moves of these characters?

NetherRealm Studios has yet to provide an answer to this question.
