Razer Raiju V3 Pro – Optimized for competition

When Call of Duty became one of the most influential game series on PlayStation 5, Sony also launched the DualSense Edge game controller for professional players, becoming the most popular high-end game controller for the system and the biggest competitor to the Razer Raiju V3 Pro in its segment.

Upon opening the box, you can see that all the controllers and included accessories are housed in a sturdy case to protect the controllers during your travels, so you don't have to worry about bumps and impacts.

Overall, although the Razer Raiju V3 Pro is designed to mimic the PlayStation 5 controller, it has a somewhat "chunky" style characteristic of Razer controllers, such as the recently released Razer Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC, rather than the "slender" design of the DualSense or DualSense Edge controllers.

Therefore, Razer's new controller design might not seem like a perfect match for the PlayStation 5, but this very shape makes it easy to hold and grip, even for those with larger hands.

Furthermore, the Razer Raiju V3 Pro is also lighter than the DualSense Edge, although not by a huge amount, but it helps reduce hand fatigue during extended gaming sessions.

In practical use, the feel this controller provides is very different and even offers a lot more freedom than the DualSense Edge.

First, the TMR (Tension Magnetic Resistance) technology controller provides superior smoothness and precision compared to the traditional point-contact technology on the DualSense Edge controller. Furthermore, the Razer Sysnapse 4 software allows for adjustment of the active range and 'Deadzone' on the controller, giving users maximum customization to their control habits.

Furthermore, Razer includes interchangeable knobs that allow users to adjust the height of the joysticks to suit their finger size. This is also a standard option for high-end game controllers.

Both the buttons and the 8-way D-pad are built with the familiar Razer Mecha-Tactile switches, featuring a 0.65mm actuation travel and a durability of up to 3 million clicks.

These mechanical switches offer an incredibly confident and precise tactile feel, a stark contrast to the outdated rubber membrane technology on the DualSense Edge, resulting in impressive responsiveness, especially in fast-paced action games. For example, in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, intense battles with numerous enemies or boss fights that would normally require continuous finger pressure on the DualSense Edge feel much lighter when using the Razer Raiju V3 Pro .

The D-pad can also be customized via software, switching between an 8-way directional control suitable for fighting games, allowing users to unleash special moves more accurately, or just 4 directions for changing moves/weapons in casual action games, helping to avoid unnecessary mistakes during intense combat moments.

The Razer™ Pro Hyper Trigger, previously featured on many other controllers, boasts a unique design with a single control switch, allowing users to toggle between 'quick trigger' and 'analog trigger' modes on the L2 and R2 joysticks, enabling players to control different games.

Similar to shooting games, the 'fast trigger' mode reduces the trigger travel, allowing for faster firing. However, in racing games like Forza Horizon 5, the 'analog trigger' helps players simulate the action of pressing the accelerator pedal, allowing for better control of the vehicle's speed, especially during drifts or cornering maneuvers that require precise speed control.

Finally, Razer™ HyperSpeed wireless connectivity technology via dongle minimizes latency, providing gamers with a fast and precise response experience.

When compared to the DualSense Edge in real-world scenarios, you'll clearly feel the "fastness" of the Razer Raiju V3 Pro in action games, delivering an incredibly different experience compared to the DualSense Edge, especially in situations requiring both speed and high precision.

Finally, the battery life of Razer's new controller is incredibly impressive, rated at 36 hours, many times longer than the DualSense Edge's mere 4 to 6 hours. The author personally tested the controller for over 25 hours of playtime without the battery indicator showing low.

Overall, the Razer Raiju V3 Pro excels in many aspects, better serving gamers thanks to its high technological content, capable of satisfying even the most demanding gamers for their controllers in esports arenas.

Razer Raiju V3 Pro – A few minor flaws!

While boasting impressive performance that surpasses its 'mainstream' Sony competitor, the DualSense Edge, the Razer Raiju V3 Pro still has a few minor issues you should be aware of.

First of all, equipping the rear mouse buttons with highly sensitive switches makes them overly sensitive and prone to accidental presses when players unintentionally grip the controller tightly or simply bump into these buttons during intense gaming situations. If you find this annoying, you can completely remove these buttons to avoid unwanted accidental presses.

However, the best approach is to equip the keyboard with switches that have a deeper travel and slightly stronger tactile feedback to minimize this issue.

Secondly, although it's a controller designed for the PlayStation 5, the Razer Raiju V3 Pro lacks some features exclusive to this system, such as the ability to wake the console from sleep mode, haptic feedback, or adaptive triggers, features that Sony exclusively includes in its DualSense controllers.

Therefore, unless you're a competitive gamer or require demanding features, the DualSense Edge remains a better way for gamers to experience games on PlayStation 5 with full functionality, allowing players to immerse themselves more deeply in modern titles.

Furthermore, the Razer Raiju V3 Pro is not cheap at all. Therefore, unless you are a professional gamer with high demands for your controller, the Sony DualSense controller remains a cheaper, easier approach to providing a more comprehensive gaming experience on the PlayStation 5.
