Detailed Plot Summary of Resident Evil Requiem - Part 1: Ghosts of the Past Connect to the Present
As the latest installment in Capcom's long-running survival horror franchise, Resident Evil Requiem marks the conclusion of the bioweapon saga that began in Raccoon City 30 years ago.
The origins of Grace Ashcroft and the ghosts of her past.
It has officially launched and received rave reviews from international publications. Most say the game perfectly blends the classic spirit of the original games with the modern gameplay of later remakes. A unique highlight of Requiem is the creation of a dual-character system with parallel storylines.
Each character possesses their own unique play style and pace. While Grace delivers pure terror as the protagonist must hide, solve puzzles, and survive, Leon showcases the prowess of a seasoned warrior with superior combat skills. These two seemingly unrelated characters meet in the same setting, uncovering secrets buried within the Umbrella Corporation's history of crime .
The story begins at the FBI headquarters in the Midwest. An agent named Grace Ashcroft is investigating a series of mysterious cases involving four victims who died in similar ways. She also learns that Raccoon City is under lockdown until 2040 after being devastated by a zombie outbreak. At this point, Grace 's superior appears and requests a private meeting to give her new instructions.
According to him, a fifth victim had appeared with a similar manner of death, and he wanted Grace to investigate the scene. Significantly, the location of the incident was the Wrenwood Hotel, where Grace had witnessed her mother's murder eight years prior. Despite the lingering memories, Grace decided to go there. The Wrenwood Hotel is located in the city of the same name in the American Midwest. Upon arrival, Grace met a police officer who allowed her to investigate after introducing herself as an FBI agent.
Stepping inside, Grace began to rediscover the haunting feeling from that fateful night. The Wrenwood Hotel had suffered a fire that had left everything in ruins, but the structure remained the same. While searching for clues, she unexpectedly found a photograph of herself with a message asking her to go to room 204 to talk. Upon arriving, she discovered many photos of her and her mother lying in bed, including one believed to have been taken on that fateful night, the night her mother was murdered.
Grace was working in bed, waiting for her mother to return. Alyssa Ashcroft was a renowned journalist and one of the survivors of the Raccoon City disaster . Twenty years after the event, she and her daughter were constantly on the move, suspecting they were being followed. While the two were talking, the room phone rang. Grace answered, and the person on the other end asked if it was Ms. Ashcroft . After Grace confirmed, the caller abruptly hung up, and then the power in the hotel went out.
Alyssa sensed danger and urged her daughter to leave, despite Grace's questioning . Down in the lobby, they encountered the hotel manager. He dismissed it as a malfunctioning electrical system that would be fixed soon, but shortly afterward, he was attacked and killed by a masked stranger. Alissa shot the assailant, then hid her file behind a hotel painting. The series of horrific events unfolded before Grace's eyes, causing her to panic and become somewhat agitated.
Alyssa tried to reassure her daughter, saying that one day she would explain everything to Grace , but before she could do so, she was brutally murdered by the masked man. He then collapsed, and the hotel caught fire and burned to the ground. The pain of losing her mother right before her eyes became a psychological trauma that Grace could never forget. Returning to reality, Grace unexpectedly received a call from the phone on her bedside table, and only then did she remember the file her mother had hidden behind the painting.
Victor Gideon makes his appearance.
When Grace retrieved the painting, she found a diary and a CD. The diary showed Alyssa talking about constantly having to move because she felt like she was being watched. While she was reading the diary, the police officer in charge of the crime scene suddenly appeared. He said he felt something sting him, then his body convulsed, veins bulged all over his face, and he went berserk, attacking her. In a panic, Grace grabbed an iron bar and stabbed the officer through the head.
However, the police officer didn't die immediately but managed to bite Grace's hand . After a struggle, Grace threw the officer out the window, causing him to fall to the street and die. When she calmed down, she noticed a table lamp was still on, even though the power had long been cut off. Following the light, Grace entered a room with a fireplace, where a man was sitting. He told Grace she was "the chosen one," and that he had arranged for her to be at this hotel. Finally, he approached and strangled Grace, causing her to lose consciousness.
At this point, the story shifts to a government "super agent" specializing in biological weapons interception missions. He's also in Wrenwood investigating the case Grace is pursuing. Leon reveals that six survivors of the Raccoon event died from the same cause. With the help of a remote female partner, Leon obtains information about a former Umbrella Corporation employee , who is also the one who kidnapped Grace.
Victor played a crucial role in the research of the T-Virus strain that caused the disaster in Raccoon City years ago. Additionally, a police officer is believed to have gone missing in the area where the fifth victim was found. At this point, Leon sees Victor on the street, carrying a girl ( Grace ) on his shoulder. As he chases after him, Victor pulls out a gun and injects himself into passersby, causing them to go berserk and attack indiscriminately, creating a chaotic scene.
This caused Leon to lose track of Victor. The messenger later revealed that Victor had bought the Rhodes Hill Chronic Disease Care Center after Umbrella's collapse and sent Leon the address to find it. She also reminded him that time was running out, and at this point, Leon removed his gloves, revealing hands with dark marks imprinted on his skin, implying that he himself had apparently contracted the virus, but without the immediate symptoms experienced by the Raccoon City residents .
