Resident Evil Requiem: Fans Discover the Game Also Has an Age Limit
Recently, the Resident Evil Requiem fan community discovered that the game has an age restriction, potentially limiting the opportunity for nearly 1 million people worldwide to experience it.
It turns out Resident Evil Requiem also has an age restriction.
Despite being 30 years old, it's still booming, with the ninth main series just becoming the next to break sales records. Last week, publisher Capcom announced that RE Requiem sold over 5 million copies in its first five days.
This achievement makes it the best-selling game in the entire franchise, surpassing the previous record holder, Resident Evil 6. Simultaneously, Requiem has also become the most popular Resident Evil game on Steam, with over 344,000 concurrent players, exceeding the 168,000 record of Resident Evil 4 Remake.
However, according to recent discoveries by netizens, the game will be restricted to players over 100 years old. Specifically, at the start of the game, Capcom will ask players to enter their age. It is currently unclear why the publisher needs this information, since anyone can enter any number they want.
But one Reddit user said they tried. pushing the age above 100 to see what would happen, and found that 100 was the highest possible number. This means that centenarians will have to "fake" their age. Of course, probably no one at that age can still play games, but the number of centenarians is actually increasing.
Many other users found the discovery quite humorous. One person even suggested that LEGO couldn't possibly be played by anyone over 99 years old. However, the age requirement to play also raised concerns about potential data exploitation. Some considered the idea "stupid," while others thought it was simply a survey to gauge the general age range of Requiem players . Another felt uncomfortable being asked their age in an age where there's virtually no privacy left online.
With Resident Evil Requiem being one of the most popular game installments of all time, fans will be pleased with rumors that Capcom is developing a DLC for it. This DLC will likely focus on Grace 's mother , Alyssa. Although she only appears in a flashback scene, Alyssa is mentioned several times throughout the game and plays a significant role in the main storyline. Since previous games have had DLCs, it wouldn't be surprising if Capcom continues this trend. However, it's worth noting that the company itself hasn't confirmed this information.
