Resident Evil Requiem and Unanswered Questions Regarding the DLC
The box office success of Resident Evil Requiem could certainly create opportunities for DLC, but the question is how it will address the questions from the main storyline.
Opportunities for developing DLC for Resident Evil Requiem.
The commercial success of Requiem has led many to believe that it will soon receive a DLC sequel. Even the well-known leaker Dusk Golem has hinted at this. And of course, with the number of unanswered questions left by Requiem 's main storyline, the new DLC will have a lot to do. Capcom is reportedly focusing on the possibility of releasing remakes of Code: Veronica and RE Zero (and possibly RE1) , so a Resident Evil 10 game might be years away from being mentioned.
Even if a new installment is released, there's no guarantee the story will revolve around Chris Redfield and the mysteries from his latest adventure in Raccoon City . The franchise is known for frequently switching perspectives between iconic characters like Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. Furthermore, the storyline of Chris 's fight against the BSAA , which shows signs of being tainted by the use of soldiers who are biological weapons, remains unresolved.
With Requiem, the biggest question players have after completing the game is probably about Leon 's fiancée . In some concept art of the character, he can be seen wearing a ring on his ring finger, and at the end of the game, Leon also takes a ring out of his pocket and puts it on. This immediately sparked a series of theories online. Some believe he may have married [name], although in conversations Leon appears quite serious and prioritizes work. Another group supports [name], especially after the Resident Evil 4 remake significantly improved her image.
Meanwhile, thanks to the popularity of "bloodline" memes, Claire Redfield is also considered a candidate. Finally, and perhaps most highly anticipated, is Leon, although there are too many issues to resolve between the two. The most obvious point is that Requiem is almost the first game where Leon doesn't encounter, speak to, or mention Ada at any point. A game where Leon plays a significant role yet lacks this famous female mercenary is quite strange, even though the 51-year-old himself is quite busy searching for answers to his illness.
Unresolved plot elements in Requiem
But compared to the mysteries surrounding Leon's storyline, who Leon marries remains relatively simple. For example, many players want more information about the character Zeno . This organization seems to have ambitions to replace Umbrella as the new antagonist, and Zeno is also believed to be a clone of Umbrella. Victor Gideon himself called him a "clone" before killing him, but that's all the information fans have.
Capcom has left almost no in-game information about Zeno . How long has he existed? How did he acquire his abilities? Adding more information in the DLC to explain Zeno and his expansion plans would certainly attract significant attention from the fan community. Regardless, any additional DLC material explaining Zeno and expanding the plans and membership of The Connections would undoubtedly be well-received.
Furthermore, an element that needs explanation is that the main characters currently possess a potential cure for any future biological weapon or mutated creature. A complete absence of biological weapon-related plots seems quite risky, so Capcom might try to remove Elpis from the storyline, but for now, it's something the story is forced to address.
Finally, there's the organization, which is gradually becoming corrupted. In Resident Evil Requiem , this faction is only briefly mentioned when Leon goes to find the explosives to destroy it. Perhaps Chris's message – which the player hasn't heard yet – is directly related to this organization, and it's quite possible he's somewhere fighting against them.
