The origins of Emily and Elpis
Rewind to 1990 at the Raccoon City orphanage . A sleeping "Emily" hears a commotion. The caregivers are distraught, unable to control "them." She enters a nearby room and sees a doctor surrounded by children. He shoots one of them in the head, but the wound heals quickly. The children's faces resemble Emily's, but their heads are shaved and they bear surgical scars. They coldly break the doctor's wrist.
Emily was so terrified that she hid under the bed. The children, checking each bed, heard the screams and rushed out. At this point, the nursery staff, or more accurately, the doctors who had experimented on the children, were all killed. The children kept injuring themselves but still healed. Emily later went to the conference room and learned that the children were just clones, raised in a laboratory to be "guinea pigs" for Umbrella 's research . If they failed, they were simply destroyed, and Emily was no exception.
He claims that scientists have been unable to replicate the formula, but now he has the "original" in his hands, which is the creation of the creature. At this moment, Grace is shocked to learn that she is a man-made creation, the reason her mother, Alyssa, was murdered, and the reason for the creation of the monsters she encounters in the Rhodes Center .
The bizarre drugs used in the experiment transformed the children into monsters. For example, the monster constantly chased and tried to capture Emily, who it only intended to take back to its lair without harming her. It seemed all it wanted was to continue being Emily 's friend, just like before the transformation.
As for Leon, she falls into a state of panic as she realizes so many terrible things are happening just because Victor and Zeno want to capture her. Zeno also appears and shoots at him, but he shows he's fast enough to dodge the bullets, similar to Albert Wesker when confronting Chris Redfield . He summons an "old friend" of Leon's , the Tyrant bioweapon that had been relentlessly pursuing Leon and Claire before.
After a protracted battle, Leon finally defeated Mr. X once and for all. He then travels to an orphanage, home to grotesque mutated creatures like giant carnivorous flowers. This orphanage also holds a gateway to Umbrella's secret base, and Leon must now confront a formidable enemy bearing a striking resemblance to the mysterious figure.
After defeating the enemy, Leon enters the central room where Zeno is trying to convince Grace. He claims that the technology to control human will already exist, but it's not capable of infecting many people, and he believes he has achieved this through [something]. Zeno reveals that the organization is the one hiding Elpis , keeping it in this secret laboratory awaiting Grace 's arrival . However, a password is required to release Elpis, and if entered incorrectly, ARK will explode, completely destroying Oswell Spencer's "legacy. "
When Leon engaged in combat with Zeno, Zeno proved superior thanks to his super speed and regenerative abilities. Just as Zeno was about to finish Leon off , Grace intervened, threatening suicide because she believed he still needed her. Taking advantage of this momentary lapse in concentration, Leon saved Grace , but he subsequently succumbed as his illness progressed to Stage 3.
Leon stated that he risked returning to Raccoon City because he wanted to make a difference, something he failed to do when he first arrived. Therefore, he wanted to destroy it, believing it shouldn't exist, and made Grace promise that if anything happened to him, she would be the one to destroy Elpis .
With the help of others, she found her way to the central information room, where all the details related to her were stored on a floppy disk. At that moment, Grace remembered the disk her mother had tried to hide at all costs. She inserted the disk into the computer and discovered the truth.
While she was alive, Alyssa approached Spencer as a reporter. He had locked himself in a room, a stark contrast to his previous behavior. Alyssa asked Spencer if he thought his actions had led to this outcome, and what he wanted the world to know.
He asserted that what needed to be known was true, that his research had opened Pandora's box, leading to disaster for the whole world. He argued that humans cannot predict when they will die, so they have hope. At the same time, happiness cannot be achieved by harming others.
The video cuts to a scene where an assistant brings Spencer a baby girl, and he reveals that she is simply a lonely child he adopted as an act of atonement. He names her, which can be understood as "Grace," seeing her as Spencer 's apology to those who died as a result of the research conducted by the Umbrella Corporation.
Oswell Spencer's Requiem
Grace then saw on the screen that Leon was collapsing outside due to the virus's effects. She found him and led him to where Elpis was located , telling Zeno that she would only enter the password if he spared Leon . At this point, Grace remembered what Spencer, Alissa , and Leon had said. This led her to two choices: release Elpis or destroy it.
Depending on Grace's choice, the game will have two different endings. If she chooses destruction, Grace will enter the password "Destruction," and the system will shut down, causing the entire area to be annihilated. Zeno angrily grabs Grace, but Leon uses all his strength to slash him in the shoulder, allowing Grace to escape, while he himself stays behind to hold off the villain.
Although he couldn't defeat Zeno, Leon was still happy that he had saved Elpis. After leaving, Grace was picked up by a helicopter, and she wished she could have saved Leon . In the other ending, Grace possessed Elpis and he was freed from the container. Leon didn't understand why Grace did this, and she explained that she wanted to atone for her mistakes.
Zeno , however, didn't care about that. He quickly grabbed a vial and injected it into himself, believing it to be a mind-controlling biological weapon. Zeno was actually working for a mysterious organization with a global control network. Their goal was to collect biological weapons for their own use, and Umbrella was also among their targets.
Unfortunately, the revelation that Spencer was actually an Anti-Virus drug, capable of eradicating all the viruses the Umbrella Corporation had developed, poured "cold water" on Zeno . This caused Zeno to lose his superpowers. At this moment, Victor appeared, expressing admiration for Spencer's intelligence .
He believed that Elpis 's ability to neutralize biological weapons would make it a powerful tool for anyone who possessed it. Zeno was enraged and said that both Spencer and Victor were merely tools for The Connections to exploit. Ultimately, he was dealt with by Victor , who then stabbed Grace in the stomach after achieving his goal.
Victor takes a vial and enters the password to destroy everything, then confronts Leon . Although defeated, he then transforms himself into a monstrous creature, almost like Nemesis in Resident Evil 3. Of course, that didn't stop Leon from defeating him. After dealing with Victor, Leon finds Grace , and the two are trapped with no way out. When all hope is lost, a group of BSAA soldiers suddenly appear and say that there is a message for Leon from Captain Redfield .
Finally, it all came to an end, and Leon said he had sent a dose of Elpis to Sherry to cure her illness. Grace , though freed, felt sad that she couldn't save Emily. However, Leon said he hadn't shot in vital areas, so it was highly possible that the girl was still alive. As Leon turned away, he took something from his pocket and put it on his finger. It appeared to be a ring, implying that he was engaged.
At the end of the game, Grace is on the phone with Leon about Sherry and Emily, mentioning that the little girl's condition is improving. She also says she's teaching Emily to read, and on the table is a photo showing that Emily has been cured of her cataracts thanks to Elpis and can now see the light.
It also marked the end of a "requiem" that Oswell Spencer dedicated to the lives he had stolen. It also offered hope to those who remained, like Grace, Emily , and even Rosemary , to continue their journey in the face of another equally dangerous enemy: the Organization .
